I just ordered engine pro bearings from Slowboy and when I opened the box they are Aluglide bearings. Acl makes them but they are aluminum silicone. I thought engine pro's were tri-metal. Are these the bearings that have taken the place of engine pro or what? Should I send them back? I thought that Clevite started using aluminum and thats why everyone stopped using them.

Thanks, Nathan

In all the years I have raced I haven't seen any aluminum bearings hold up unless if your using aluminum rods. The shock wave of a iron/steel rod for some reason wears aluminum bearing out really quick but they are theoretically lighter on the rotating assembly. But They do still work as long as clearances don't get to big and the rods start slapping. Once the rods start slapping the bearing are toast and they will throw a rod. Personally I believe in Clevite Tri Metals H and V series, but ACL KING and CLevites are all good quality just order the correct series for your application

I got in touch with Slowboy today and come to find out, they sent me the wrong bearings. I have really not had a good experience with Slowboy this time. I have delt with them a few times before and everything was fine but this time has really killed me in getting my motor together  . They sent me the wrong bearings and they didnt send my headgasket at all. I'm not trashing them its just ONE bad experience.

I apologize for our mistake, silly humans.

Glad you called in however to get things straight.

If you need anything, do not hesitate to call us!

I assume we sent you a UPS call tag however?

MGH

Yeah, we're getting everything straightened out hopefully. Once I get the shipping label tomorrow I can ship these bearings back and get the right one's. I have been dealing with Tom Dahl and he has been great help. I understand it was just an honest mistake.
