If I will have to take the wheel hub off of the control arm ball joint to replace my axles because I will be spending some days on this and due to the rules of my complex every week day I have to have my car appearing driveable at sunrise to avoid run ins with towing Co. so I'll need to be able to attach my wheels. So say I have to clean up at midnight at which time I should have the transmission, axles, and struts out. However I need to get that done, how easy will it be to get the car off jack stands into wheels or at least appear as such? I hope some of you have been in my situation and can relate.

Once you have the axles out within a few bolts you can have the ball joint and struts hooked back up. Once they are out bolt everything back together "snug" and then you will be able to roll the car around if need be while still being able to pull the trans. The car will need to be lifted up on a jack though to get an awd trans out on the ground. Good luck!

I never even took my axles out of the hubs the first time I removed the tranny. Just removed them from the transmission and moved it to the side. I did remove the suspension just so I could get to the tranny mounts a little better. After the tranny was out I put the suspension back on like the other two guys previously stated.

Okay, sounds simple enough. I've just never got in there that deep yet. Thanks. I shall proceed...

I usually put the jack stands on the control clamps. Its slightly behind the wheel concealing the jack stands which is good. is that a secure spot? I put them there because its easiest after jacking the car up with my large jack. Will it get in the way of removing either the struts or axles?

Edit: nevermind. I was under the assumption id need jack stands to keep the wheels from collapsing inwards without the axles, as if the control arms weren't there. until I get in there in my mind I'll completely miss a component like that.

What I did was leave the cv shafts in the wheel bearing and just take the two bolts out of the strut and unbolt it from the knuckle then take the shafts out of the transmission. That worked really good for me. I never unbolted ball joint, cv shaft nut, or control arm nuts.

Okay, alright, so however I take it all off, I'll need suspension, wheel hub and control arm to get wheels on.

I guess at some point I was thinking I could cheat, say if its real late and i'm sore and tired, and find someplace high up to secure jack stands so it sits low at normal height and just lay my wheels up in the middle of the wheel wells with a couple rocks. I haven't experimented yet. Will see...

No I got it. I'll put done 2x4's under the frame somewhere. Probably at the control arm joints. I just need an easy way to keep my car on good display each morning without having to put struts/control arms/wheel hubs on each time.
