Alright, so after doing a Boost Leak Test with a compressor, it doesn't want to hold anything higher than 10lbs of pressure. I'm getting some pretty bad leaks from the Throttle Body, and was thinking, what would be my best option to fix that. Replace the seals (i couldn't find anyone selling a seals kit) on the Throttle Body, or just replace the whole Throttle Body with a aftermarket bolt on (from like BBK). I want to do it right, so am looking for some guidance (this seems like the loudest leak, so after i take care of this one, I'm sure I'll be back here with some other questions. =)

Thanks

Gabriel

Is it the two throttle body gaskets leaking or just the tiny shaft seals leaking?

Either way, it seams like you're looking for an excuse to upgrade. A throttlebody upgrade at your level will be practically unnoticeable.

I've never replaced the seals before, but i've removed and replaced a TB before =) But at $15 bucks compared to $250+, well, i guess its something I'll just have to look forward to learning. =)

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Your best bet is to start clean. Rebuild the TB and bore it to 63mm. All new seals, gaskets, etc. It is well worth $175... Send it to this guy, you will be happy. And people have gone 750WHP on stock TB.

This is probably overkill for your current setup. The the $150 saved towards your next part.

Just a heads up I bought one of those mixed sets of o-rings from either homedepot or lowes (can't remember) for cheap (under 5 i think) and replaced my seals and it worked fine.

when removing the throttle body to check/replace the seals should you replace the tb to mani gasket or should it be ok as long as it hasnt ripped or anything?

You'll want to replace the TB gasket after you take the TB off for sure. They're only about $5 at any auto parts store. The lip seals are the only way to go on the TB shaft, because they won't give you sticky TB, and the more pressure you put on them, the tighter they seal.

Don't be afraid of the procedure, it really isn't difficult. I know what you're thinking: "You don't look forward to extracting those TB plate screws that are riveted down so they don't come out, and fall in your manifold!" Right? Well you don't have to. Leave the TB plate and shaft in there.

Here's a little trick I use: There's a little edge on the shaft that makes it hard to slide the seals on, but you can wrap a piece of celophane around the shaft, and form a little cone for the seal to slide over.
Slide the seal on over the celophane sleeve, press it into the bore, then slip the celophane out. Viola! no risk of loosening TB plate screws.

Ps. I returned your PM about the seals.

Sounds like a very nice trick. I'll have to give this one a try. :thumb:
