So, I have two questions. First of all, I pulled off my bov the other day to clean it. I looked into the uicp where it was bolted on and saw this.

Is that normal? If so, what is it from? I know the uicp is pretty crappy so I'm not sure if it's a really bad weld job or something else. Also, could that be hindering performance? And if it isn't normal, how can I fix it?

Second question deals with motor mounts. I have Prothane motor mounts (I think) in 2 out of 4 mounts. This one is the drivers side mount.

Should there be a space between the lip of the bushing and the metal of the motor mount? What might have caused it and if it's bad, how can I fix it?

Thanks!

First you need to identify what motor you actually have. Then you can click on this link and see which product suits your needs best. Yes, basically there are two sections of the timing belt cover. The cover is not simply the piece that shields the cam gears. That's only the top section of the timing belt cover assembly.

It is definitely a 6 bolt motor. I think he does have the bottom piece - you can see part of it sticking in front of the timing bolt behind the 2 bolts. Am I correct there? And I realize it's better to be safe than sorry, but I see people running without the top timing belt cover all the time so it can't be that bad, right?

Until something gets dropped in there :sneaky: which happens often, there is absolutely no good reason not to cover it. Also in case if you didn't get my point earlier, change the other 2 stock mounts to poly mounts.

Ya, all 4 poly motor mounts are on his to-do list - along with a bunch of other stuff haha. Does it look like he has the lower cover in that picture though?

Yes he does but he's missing the metal back plate that goes on the passinger side of the belt which bolts to the head, I'm assuming he is also missing the other one on the firewall side.

I'm trying to picture the piece that you're talking about and I can't. Do you have any pictures that show the piece? Thanks

So, you're saying I'm missing the piece you can see through the cam gears?

Also, you mentioned one being near the firewall. I'm not sure which piece you are talking about. Can you give picture or something else to clarify that?

As of right now, I am missing 2 pieces of the timing belt cover, correct? That metal one that I'm seeing through the cam gears (if that is the one you are talking about) and then the actual round cover that goes over the timing belt. If this is incorrect (for example, the one that is near the firewall is another piece), please let me know. I will go out and take some more pictures and post them up later tonight so that you can better help me out.

Three pieces. The piece you're refering to is actually two seperate pieces, one behind each cam gear. The one behind the intake cam gear is the one I was refering to when I said "firewall side".

As for the bov needing recirculated...what would be my best option right now? I have (as you can see) a turboxs bov. Would it be best to try and find another turboxs that can be recirculated? I'm assuming that the turboxs' are the only bov that'll work with that flange. Or would it be better/easier/cheaper to look for something else and just have someone weld a new flange on? If so, what bov do you suggest?

You are supposed to modify a 2g mount (that goes on the block between the timing belt). You most likely still have the 1G mount, and that is why the engine sits cocked to one side. I am not saying that the piece with the poly in it is not 2g -- it is, but the piece that this mounts to on the motor is the culprit.

I bet your friend did not know that when he did the 6 bolt swap.

I have found a few more questions that I need some help with. Just to let everyone know, I have a 6 bolt swap. If you look back at the picture of my engine bay, I noticed I do not have an A/C line that I've seen in a lot of other cars. Here is a picture of it:

My A/C lately hasn't been blowing cold...sometimes not even cool. Could this be a problem? This line was in every other Eclipse I looked into purchasing (I took pictures of all of them). Also, I am only running one fan and I'm not sure how it is hooked (for A/C or for engine heat). Should I have 2 fans?

I also noticed I do not the have lower exhaust manifold heat shield. Should I try and get one of those or does it not really do much?

I'm not sure if some of these things do not fit or do not work when swapping in a 6 bolt.

Red circle = Power Steering Resevoir
Blue Circle = + pressure side of Power Steering Pump
Purple Arrows = Power Steering Fluid lines and return line
Green Arrow = AC line.

I really don't know what I was thinking when I posted earlier. The picture in post 43 (with the colored arrows) IS NOT my car. That is from a virtual engine website. Sorry if this confused anyone. Here is a picture of my engine bay:

Not to be rude, but it was all stated in the post you replied to above. The original questions are in post #43.

Track the lines from the AC compressor, back side of the engine bay. (i.e. right hand side of the bay between the firewall as you face the front of the car). If you cannot find the two lines going to the AC radiator then obviously you don't have a full AC setup.

Also most likely in the swap the Freon was removed and the system was never repurged. You will need to go to an AC shop and have them tested... after you verify you have all the equipment.
