So, I have two questions. First of all, I pulled off my bov the other day to clean it. I looked into the uicp where it was bolted on and saw this.

Is that normal? If so, what is it from? I know the uicp is pretty crappy so I'm not sure if it's a really bad weld job or something else. Also, could that be hindering performance? And if it isn't normal, how can I fix it?

Second question deals with motor mounts. I have Prothane motor mounts (I think) in 2 out of 4 mounts. This one is the drivers side mount.

Should there be a space between the lip of the bushing and the metal of the motor mount? What might have caused it and if it's bad, how can I fix it?

Thanks!

well, yes it has a belt around one side. it would be the compressor - im going from memory here since my car has none of this anymore. if you look at your motor, the right side of the intake manifold and look down below it basically, the a/c compressor is there. the belt should be going to like the crank and water pump i believe - none the less it should be going back to the mess of belts our cars have.. keep us or me updated!

So I went out and took some pictures and hopefully someone can help me (or tell me to take more pictures of a different part of engine) locate compressor or at least where it should be.

This is an image from my Chilton's book. According to this I should have 4 belts yet I'm only seeing 3 (and the one that's missing is the AC belt which is #4 in the pic). Should I be able to see AC belt?

Is this where the other side of the AC line connects? I found a hard line that has the green knob on it for purging the system and followed it down the side of the engine bay to what looks like a pump (right near power steering resivoir) then from that pump to this piece.

Also, I'll try and see if I have the condenser too but I'm not sure what I'm looking for so when I get some pics I'll throw them up here.

If anyone can help me figure out if I have ANY part of my AC system, I'd appreciate it. Summer's coming up and I really don't want to be without it. :(

IT looks to me that your ac is gone. I cant see your compressor and on your last picture those are the lines that connect to the compressor.

It looks like you don't have the compressor... and if you cannot find the radiator and return line then it looks like you are missing the setup... hence why your AC blows warm

welllll looks like everyone got to answer ya before i did. regardless, your ac is gone. the compressor at least. you can a- buy a new compressor and have the system evacuated and recharged or b- ditch the whole system entirely. as for explaining, the picture of the back of your block and the 3 or 4 bolt holes is where the ac comp should be.

I agree with the rest on a crappy welding job for the BOV attachment. Make sure you port this opening or at a minimum knock off the small "Be Bes" with a file. These are very bad! The "Be Be's" are weld splatter that doesn't penetrate into the base metal during welding. These will most likely dislodge and get stuck in something that it shouldn't.

Splitpi - Thank you very much for that image! I have been thinking about purchasing that manual as the Chilton's doesn't have much for some of this stuff (such as AC system).

kidrabbit - Thanks for the input and suggestion as to what to do. I think I'm going to try and get rid of all the bad weld spots on there when I take the uicp off this summer.

It looks like your a/c compressor along with the bracket that holds it are missing. The condensor also looks like it missing(judging from your engine bay picture in an earlier post). Lastly, an a/c line is missing that goes from the condensor to the firewall. You can try to look for it somewhere near the intake mani its a big thick hose that'll be hard to lose. As far as I remember it connects to the firewall almost directly behind the battery.

SlickGSX asked if you had your recirculation port capped off and you said you couldn't find it right? If so, he is talking about the pipe that goes from the air filter to the turbo. A little bit after the MAS there's a pipe there where the BOV recirculates to. Since your BOV isn't recirculated it should be at the least capped off.

The two bolts that were used for the old motor mount I left on in my 6 bolt swap just in case I ever need to take the motor out again I plan on using those two to hold my chain to the block.

Hope some of this helps.....

Nice car BTW.

Thanks for more information. I'm (hopefully) going to visit the guy I bought the car from and get the parts that he forgot to put on for the ac system. I'll have to make sure I get all the lines and brackets and whatnot. I'll keep everyone updated as to what all was on the car and what wasn't.

That's a good idea for the motor mount bolts. I'll have to keep that in mind!

Thanks for the nice words about the car :thumb:
