98 GSX DD with a Kick

I have purchased OEM oil pump case, water pump, and all timing belt components. I also purchased Fluidampr and Gates timing belt. The cylinder head will be sent out this week. I received the oil pump gasket wet. Is the gasket ruined? It’s green and feels like plastic.

Best color hands down, when I was looking for a dsm I knew it had to be white. Awesome build thread, you will have a bad ride when you're done.

Excuse the mess; I was still cleaning.

I will add pictures for the Noobs. I found myself asking simple questions when I was a noob. I will try to help the community by posting pictures to help the noobs. I will try to post step by step install.

I sent out the cylinder head and had it rebuilt. I had the following service performed:
Clean/ hot tank
Visual evaluation/ inspection
Deck resurfaced for MLS
5 angle valve job
Bronze valve guide installed

Port and polish:
Gasket match intake
Contour ports
Blend seats into bowls
Unshroud valves in combustion chambers
Knife Edge divider port intake & exhaust

Install HKS 272 cam with lifters/rollers
Enlarge Main Studs holes to 12mm (accept 6bolt head studs)
Install 1 Time Cert for the valve cover.

I received the rebuilt head a couple days ago. I need to buy arp ultra torque lube and I want to have my torque wrench calibrated. I been trying to find a place where they can calibrate the wrench for a reasonable price.

I think I will have the motor taken apart and put back together. (found dirt inside)

If I have a rebuilt transmission with no oil in it and sat for 7 years. Will I have issues if I install it and just add oil? Or do I send it out to be inspected?

Glad you stuck with it! I admire those who hang with these older cars and try and to keep them running and up to date. Hope to see more from you and your build.

I think I should start by selling things I don’t need for extra cash to finish the car. I was trying to build two cars at the same time so I pretty much bought two of each. I’m trying to find a place to finish my engine locally but I’m having a hard time. (DSM experience) I can go to RRE but I don’t know if I can afford them.
