97 gsx battery and brake light came on

I was sitting in my car while idling in a parking lot and all of a sudden my brake and battery light came on. I just replaced the battery. Now also my windshield wipers and window washer are on overload. My wipers are going twice as fast and my washers are shooting over my car. Something is overloading he power. I checked all of my battery connections. My alternator belt is squeaking a lot. Could the belt be stretched and be causing this. What other things could be causing it?

them lights normaly point to the alternator being bad! it could be over doing it so best start there and check its output volts

I second this. Your alternator may be on its way out and overloading the circuits.

Worse still every component gets that power. You need to stop driving it and check the alternator. Voltage regulator is likely bad.

I pulled the alternator and I'm having it checked out today

Got the alternator checked at oreillys. Yea it's bad. It was putting out 28.49 volts. So now I get to buy a new one

I also had a simular problem. Swap the alternator to a galant altnerator and never had a problem. The galant alternator also has more amps then the eclipse alternators

To add to this, you want a 90amp alt. I've noticed most parts stores now list the 90 amp option under searching for eclipses/talons (Canadian models require the 90amp for daytime running lights), so no need to search galant alts

Replaced the alternator because the regulator was bad and got a new one. And that one was bad too. So I got another and it was working for about 25 minutes. Then I turned the car off and started it again and rpms shot up the 2k and slowly went down the my gauge stopped working. Then it started working again and now the battery and brake light are on dimly. And the battery is draining. I checked the alternator and it was putting out 11 volts and the battery the same. Then the car died. Jump started the car and it started running fine. Rechecked the alternator and it was putting out 13.86 volts. I let the car idle for 10 minutes then restarted the car and again the battery light and brake light came on and the alternator was back to 11 volts. So I shut off the car and pulled the red wire and did a draw test from the battery to the wire and it read 28amps. So something must be messing with the electrical
