I was looking at the original factory brochure for the 1997 Evolution IV (4) and I instantly recognized the rims, as I used to have them on my 1g (just sold them in fact). They are the same rims that came on the 1999 Eclipse 10th Anniversary OZ Rally Edition. Same size and everything. I was kind of shocked that the same wheels that had been on the Evo ended up on a N/T Eclipse just 2 years later. Anyway, it blew me away... Maybe it's just me.

They (OEMs) do this sort of thing a lot. What may start out as the upgraded wheel for one car ends up as the base or special wheel on something else. Especially when the car they started out on is something that is low volume and all of a sudden they end up with a surplus of wheels they are contractually obligated to buy. But still, good find - one way to keep from dilluting the magic of a special Evo wheel is to have them end up on a car that isn't even sold in the same market (or at least not in that form)

I still think they look good on a 2g. Here are mine.

I believe the later model evo's came with the same wheel, but in a 17s.

Yeah I had read that the Evo ones were 16x6.5 and I couldn't recall if the Eclipse ones where 16x6 or 16x6.5. Good find on the part numbers!

The evo iv was available in 16s or 17s. I think it was part of the difference between the RS and GSR.

Actually that was the Evo V you are thinking of. The Evo IV GSR ran larger brakes, 2 piston calipers with 11.6" disks, then the RS which is why they went with the 16x6.5 OZ wheels. The RS still ran 15x6.5 steel wheels and had the smaller brakes from the Evo III. 16" wheels were in option for the RS.

The Evo V went to the 17x7.5 OZ and again larger brakes, 4 piston Brembo calipers with 12.6" disks. The RS still came standard with 15" steel wheels and the older Evo III brakes. Larger wheels were again an option.

Ahhh I knew the V was the first gen with the 4 piston Brembos... I knew the IV GSR/RS had different wheel sizes, just had the exact size mixed up. Thanks for the info :)

i actually have the evo5 18s of this, i was going to convert to a 5 lug, but ended up getting the oz f1 cup 4 lug instead and thats whats installed on my car

Do you mean 17's? I know some of the special editions of the the Evo's came with 18 x 8's, such as the Evo VI 'Zero Fighter' and Evo VI 'eXtreme', but I don't think they were the same rims.

The OZ f1 cup is not a factory evo wheel, it is an aftermarket wheel produced by OZ. It is the same style wheel as the ones shown above just slighty different.
