Hello everyone! Welcome! To start off I'm new to the dsm world but always wanted one and finally having one has me very excited. With that being said I have quite the project on my hands.

Background: went to go look at the car didn't buy it at first was told the turbo blew and needed head work (looked like a big can of worms to open for the price $500) long story short I now own the car and only paid $200. The car is a 96 eagle t
The good: car is very clean almost no rust (only rust being in the spare tire housing) it has a six bolt block swap I believe a 2g head at least the intake is from a 2g from what I can tell. Also plenty other little goodies. Full exhaust, fmic etc...

The bad: it was pretty much in pieces when we got it. She'll need a lot of little things like a thermostat housing, most of the pluming for the coolant system. Along with a turbo and IC piping, as well as a new head i'm taking it to get tested this week to see where to go from there. Also the interior needs some love.

The goals: With the help of a buddy of mine we plan to build it. And have it on the road by spring time if possible. We are shooting for 350-400hp

1st step: we are going to send the head out to be tested and machined then we were going to go with a mild build , we found a big 16g for sale locally so we will probably pick that up too. The plan is to get her up and running before we really start dumping in the moneys$$

Wow, looks like a great deal for only $200, don't know how you got it for that:thumb:

Good luck!
I'm right there with ya. We didn't even haggle he just kept lowering the price. Lol

Are the threads that hold down the head 11mm or 12mm? 11mm= 95-99 block. Or just look at the oil pan to tell if 6bolt or not. If it had stock head bolts, 99% chance its a 7bolt.
I wish I could tell ya. We went to take the head off and there weren't any studs in the head. So there is that at least disassembling it was a breeze haha. I checked the oil pan on the crank side and it was straight and not rounded.

For someone to go through the trouble of using a 6bolt block and then reusing the 6bolt head bolts on a 2g head (2g head requires drilling to fit 6bolt) then either they are really really stupid or you have a 7bolt
I'll have to look into it hopefully the head is even good. You can tell at one point this car was someones baby, then a few too many people got there ugly hands on her.

Little update for you guys

Found out through the grapevine (facebook LOL) that pretty much the whole drive train is shot besides the head.
So I decided to tear into it and man was it quite the sight everything was in pieces hunks in the oil pan even a bolt LOL....see pics ROFL

The deadline I have given myself is may 20th so I can possibly take this beauty to automotion(pretty big car show where I'm from) Got a long way to go LOL i'm trying to keep the cost down by just getting it on the road as stock as possible. Already sourced a pretty nice trans: steal fork, double scyros in 2nd, treated gears, and it was shimed tight. So its a good starting point now on to the engine.

Other then that mess we have interior and wiring work yay!! The fun never stops! Picked up some pretty nice carpet that we are going to replace the old ragged stuff with. Should be a good ole time wish me luck hopefully be back soon with another update peace.

Yours looks to be in worse shape than mine was, hopefully it doesn't give you too bad of a headache. What's the interior look like?

Interior needs work came with no headliner fabric but redoing that and the carpet so it'll look pretty nice with the leathers I got out of a parts car.

The n/t I own had no sun visors and had speaker box carpet for a liner. It's still rocking the carpet liner and I located some tan visors to use, wanted to recover them but just never got around to it haha

Reminds me of when my 2G gave itself the "external balance shaft" modification! Chin up, you still got more than $200 worth of DSM there :)

I feel like that gawker at accidents, or the guy who goes to races hoping for a crash (I don't do either of these), cuz seeing destruction like that makes something deep inside me giddy. And idk why. But it's impressive to see how parts handle that kind of situation.

That is pretty bad damage and terribly unfortunate tho!

That happened 6.5 years ago. Back then I was NOT laughing, but now that I dug up and re-posted the pics I have been chuckling at them all afternoon :) I wonder how much force was applied to that cylinder wall to actually put a DENT in it! Man, thinking back...that was a seriously loud event, followed by the chilling sound of many metal chunks hitting the bottom of the car as I coasted to the side of the highway.

Hey guys been awhile! So got an update just managed to score a stock awd shell. Plans are to just use the motor with a fwd trans I have just to get her on the road and off the jack stands haha. Then later down the road awd swap the beast that's the plan on paper at least. Pretty excited to dive in, trying to get her on the road within a few weeks for this nice weather. Got some pics for your viewing pleasure just showing our set up, and how stock this car is LOL

Hey there guys got around to working on the car so here is anot update.

So the motor and trans are now pulled. There was a noise coming from the passenger side of the car. My buddy and I had a strong assumption that it was something to do with the trans. After diving into the car we came to realize the PO had tried running a steel braided line for the clutch but bypassed the slave cylinder.... wonder why the trans failed LOL. After separating the trans from the motor we noticed fibers everywhere and even chucks of clutch. Even the pressure plate fingers were all bent differently.

So fingers crossed here and all I need is a clutch kit:pray::pray: All that is really left is to pull the harness... yay!!

Until next time ladies and gentlemen
