Hello all

Well, my car was sent to Barcelona for some fixes at an import car technician (finding a good technician for non european cars in Spain can be quite hard) and well.

He has two Eclipses right now, both being 96 GS. He states that both car do not have the same engine, the other one as a "Dodge engine" (I assume a 420A), and he states that mine has the old engine on Eclipses. I assume again, 4g63.

Is it possible? In models guide it is stated that 95-99 N/T are powered by 420A.

So, what's going on? My car VIN does match a 96 GS. Previous owner could have it swapped? My fab date is 95. (maybe it can help)

Thank you all

Solution
In Europe & everywhere else in the world, 2G RS/GSs came with the 4G63 (naturally aspirated), not the 420A. US is the only country that got the 420A in the 2G cars.

I still have the title clear in Massachussets state!!
I bought it at a local dealer of Upton... so.... IT IS 100% american, not the crap they sell in Europe (the EURO eclipse has even a different horsepower)

Of course it is my car! Would be a shame to post other's cars in my sig :D

Btw, a good site for 3000GT owners?

For the 3kgt owner

That is a long way to send you car to be fixed. You have a decent Mitsubishi dealer in Barcelona who always did great things with my Eclipse. They are located near the airport (the central delaers didn't care) just past Mas Blau (like 2 exits past off Rhonda de Dalt)

Try them, better than sending it to San Sebastian.

Sorry but aren't you from Pensylvania? :p
My car reached Barcelona in January, on 27. When I reached the port depot, I was told by the technicians that my car was broken down...

Car was abused during the transit from New York to Spain. My company (who really own the car) is located in San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa, Spain, but the car is not runneable, and towing from bcn to ss, would cost me well over 750 excluding aplicable taxes...

So, It is now at a car technician near Barcelona. Why not official Mitsubishi? Official Mitsubishi costs around 40 the hour (that kills). The fact is that now there are two Mitsubishi Eclipses there, and these two cars doesn't have the same engine, even if both were made in 96 and are GS models.

Do you use to go to Barcelona with your Eclipse?

I Live in Pennsylvania, but was born in England and spent 2 years in Barcelona from 2000 until December 2002. I lived 2 streets from Camp Nou con las putas!!

I had the Eclipse with me, although Barcelona wasn't the best place for it, especially with the small parking lots.

con las putas dice! LOL!

Well...Nice move for your car!!! :p You must truly love that car :)

btw, what do you think ppl of Opel Tigra? has it been sold in the usa?

You should see it with a nice import rear wing, a new front bumper (I saw one perfect with the bunmper of a S2000), TT conversion roof, rear wing arm on top (instead of bottom of rear glass), new mirrors, and an engine swap (1.4 sux).....

After spending somewhere around $2500 you get a very nice car :)

PS: Yep...in usa you can buy a GS with that money, and lots of "toys" (turbo, etc) but in fact, this is a critic to tunning in my country. No ones follows the DIY.... I even saw once a Passat wich owner payed more than $40.000 for modifications done to it...

Tigra is the only european car I like, so don't flame it...

:p

with its terrible seating positon..u have to recline the chair all the waz because o the sloped windsheild..or your forehead hits the sunvisor..i am not a tall guy,im pretty average..and the tigra is too small

ever heard of a POS tigra that hasent had either a premature Timing belt Fail,a Oilpump gasket fail or a Head gasket(once this happens,it usually happens again)?

u ever wonder why u see so manz Tigras with some blown headlight bulb and ask yourself why doesnt the owner fix it?(because its a PITA,its easier if u remove the bumper cover LOl)

For the money they look OK, I would never own one just like any GM product.

Thankfully we don't do the 14 inch super wide thing...hence it being the "Eurto Style." Being born in the UK...I am not European!!! We roll them on 18's.

I bough a Tigra today! :D

Yep yep, wrecked tigra, front damage, missing engine and trans. Whole rest perfect. Paid for it $160.
I also bought today the engine and trans from a Tiburon (aka Hyundai coupe) so I will be busy the next two or three months (I will try to mount it, if not, my uncle will come in three months and he will do the job). It's a nice car, very comfortable and cheap.

I know it's cheap because original parts are WEAK. Working on it :) Looking for a nice front bumper now and radiator.

Also looking for someone with a tow truck near (And CHEAP).
I'm running out of funds... I had to pay today $500 also for a trans for my GS...
And I will have to travel this weekend to BCN in order to give the trans to the technician....
(wich will cost me around $300 in labour time plus diesel expenses)

Tigra is the only small sized car I love.... And the only european car that I love also.... Please, be kind with it.

PS: Trading a dsm for a tigra? Still not isane mate!

of course u could take the 3kgt

ive been wanting one myself..did u buý it here in Europe?

what spec..Euro Spec 1,Us Spec,or German Spec 2?(with improved "indistructable"tranny LOL)..its so hard to get a goodf 3kgt here..either too much milage or too expensive..or both..how much u paid for it?if u imported from the US,was there any hassle?lemme know!

thanx

what tigra parts u need, what tibureon parts u need?i work at a Opel Dealer..we also sell and service Hyundais too,so i get a discount on Parts(20-28%)so if u need anything, lemme know, maybe i can help u out..shippimg is cheap within the EU,so thats not a factor

Ralph: If you want a 3000GT just give me a call :) I use to import cars from USA to EU...
It's the job I do in spare time.

Parts I need.... Still don't know, need some time to check it.
Certainly engine mounts.... but not sure yet, have to grab the parts later (the car and engine still at the junkyard).

There was luckly an eclipse crashed in the nearest junkie from my office.... I will show you some pics of what happens to an eclipse after making some spins over his roof and being runned over by a very long truck.... :( poor boy... I don't think he made it of that crash

Thank you for your offer Ralph, it is very interesting, so we will keep in contact :D

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112930

Can you guys help me out? Tranny from a 4g63 can be used on a 420A? Should I have to buy engine and tranny?

VIN of the crashed is 4MBMND32AWE000029

hELP!

hmmps are you sure it's D32 ???

cause D32 = fwd turbo model (4g63t)

and D31 = fwd n/t model (420a)

mmc españa confirmed me 4 hours ago that 4mbmnd32awe corresponds to a mitsubishi Eclipse GS manufactured in USA for MMAL (2º Digit) with a 4g63 mounted engine, due to being manufactured for EU resale.

Car was labeled GS, but maybe the T was scratched. I did not saw the exahust manifold of the car. But VIN is correct, called MMC and said vin is correct (check digit OK) so car is D32.

Looks like only USA GS have 420...... Looks like I can find lots of replacements for 4g63 in Eu but not so much for 420A....

All neons have 420A?

Tranny suits an eclipse?

try to understand it...
There are no 4g63 n/t engines in 2g eclipses...

all 2g n/t cars have 420a engines,
D32 = means the car is GS-T
