dsm-onster, according to my notes, the 2G spring is shorter than the 1G spring. Free length is 47mm vs 48.3mm. Install height is the same at 39.88mm. Seat pressure is different: 2G is 54 lbs, 1G is 66 lbs.
This doesn't mean that 15 year old 1G springs are still good. They wear out over time. The wear limit for 1G springs is when the free length is down to (coincidentally) 47.3mm
