What does this regulator look like? I have been searching for images of one and all I come across is the images of 2g HLA's or the factory HLA STM sells. I have a friend who recently gave me his HLA off of a Evo III head(Supposedly) and I would like to confirm what I have is indeed off of an EVO III cylinder head.

That is not from an Evo3.

May could be from the Hyundai 4G63 "Clone" I have seen that style too.

Thanks guys, I got excited hoping I had an Evo III hla for my build but I guess not. I'd still like to figure out where this hla came from.

^ doesn't matter, toss it in the bin for one of these ;)

I didn't want to shell out $175 for a Kiggly HLA when I Could get an Evo III HLA that does the same as Kigglys HLA regulator for free. The major difference being the Evo III HLA dumps the excess pressure and cost LOL. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and order a Kiggly haha :aha:

The evo 3 doesn't do the same as the kiggly. The evo 3/1.6 4G61 regulator has a hole in the side and dumps the excess oil pressure back into the head. It doesn't control your oil pressure to the hla at any certain oil pressure. It controls the pressure just like the ofh does. Now kigglys hla regulator holds the pressure right at 15psi. It holds the oil back into the system. Much different design.

Yeah that's what I was saying that the major difference between the two is that the Evo III dumps excess pressure and the Kiggly just regulates it. I was also under the impression that the Evo HLA also holds pressure at 15psi. I may be wrong but its always good to learn something new. :thumb:

If you can stretch the budget go for the kiggly. Keeps more oil in the pan and free's up the drain passages from the head to the block to help with crank case pressure. I also got mine for $150 @ extremepsi

Thanks, I'll just go for a Kiggly then since my build is pretty much complete.

You would be better off with the stock one over the evo 3 if you race alot. The stock has just a restrictor plate, so no bypass and oil stays in the passages. I have all the different hla regulators. I'll see if I can get some pics of the differences. But the kiggly one is by far amazing how he designed it. Functions different over the evo 3. His unlike the evo 3 will maintain 15 psi no mater what the oil pressure in the block is. The evo 3 can have pressure creep since the bypass hole is rather small. As stated above you want as much oil in the pan as possible. Hope that clears things up for ya.

That would be awesome if you could post some pics of all the different regulators. :hellyeah:
