95 Eclipse GSX build and the restore :-)

My introduction to dsm world started on july of 2010 ​

Well let me introduce my self my name is Daniel and i own a 95 eclipse gsx 5speed, with all the options avaible for is year. Ok let tell you how i got in on the dsm world, since back of 2010 i was looking to buy a car, i saw a red 97 gst forsale wich i fell in love when i started it and drove it. Well the guy was asking 4800 i know it was high for the year but it only had 100k wich i like, but i didn't know it was full of problems, . Here is some pics, of my old gst.

july 24-2010 cleaning my gst. I was getting ready to go six flag hurricane harbor.not so great day.​

Well i was cleaning my gst i was exited because i was going to go to six flags hurricane harbor with my wife and my new born son at that time. My gst driverside axle came off this was not fun. I rightaway got on the service road and check what just happen, i look under the hood there was gear oil dripping i was like my clutch is gone.long story short i notice the axle pop out the locking ring was so wear out and that was the reason my driverside axle pop out when i was boosting on the freeway, so i put it back on and i drove like that to six flags but i couldt boost much or the axle would pop out. Sorry i didn't post pics of the axle coming out but i have the interior one when i was cleaning the inside.

This my old 97 Gst just to clear miss understanding this car is gone it was my first dsm.

Man I miss that car,once I got it I got rid of all the red.I took everything from the block up and started the car all over again.new turbo,head gasket,head studs,motor mounts,exhaust,header,intercooler piping,axles,suspension,injectors,timing belt,body work,interior redone,all gauges,new shifter linkage,diffrent rims,and wheel bearings.those are the things I had to do to that car just to get it to be a reliable daily driver.that car was really really fast though,and my friend daniel took good car of that little red gst.I traded him my 95 gsx for that red gst.also its the car he is doing this build on.I had a 95 awd talon that I traded for the 95 gsx he has now.the awd he has now didn't run when I got it,and it had came from a single owner in dallas.I was able to claim a 08 mustang gt at the track with that awd he has now when it was all stock.just some history on the gsx for y'all.

I usually don't care for aftermarket wings and body kits but i have to say although that spoiler is a tad large, I actaully like the way it looks. Tastefull without overdoing it (but if it weren't for the lower side skirts i don't think it would look right at all) Overall it's a pretty good looking car IMO

the trade my 97gst for a 95 eclipse gsx completely stock.


the trade that changed it everything after months looking for a gsx i found one on craiglist forsale or for trade i text the guy of the gsx, wich his now my friend and member on this site. Well i talk to him about my gst i sent him the pictures of my gst he liked he sent me some of gsx with i liked but it was stock besides bolt ons fmic, 1g bov, hard intercooler pipping , and a metal intake pipe, boost gauge,narrowband,oil and water temp pretty much it. Well sfter talking to him he came to my house and saw my gst it need it work i didt have the money durring that time to fix the problems that it had but he still like, i saw his gsx it was completely stock in great condition no rust anywhere well taken care exept for the headliner, and paint. Well he left later on that same day or next day he text me that he wanted to trade i was happy about it, couple days later i arrive to his house with my wife and my friend who owns a clean 99gst with only 60k he dosent drive it often. Back to my topic well i arrive to his friends house where he told me he was going to meet me, we saw the cars, i test drove his gsx and what a difference between the gst and gsx, i fell in love with his gsx. We get back to his friend house and we sign the tittle work and his gsx was finally mine and my gst was his thank you eli for my gsx. Thanks everyone whos reading my thread.

Lol man you know what's funny bro is that alot of the parts from my old gsx that you have ended up back with me and are going onto my new tsi. even the intercooler you sold my friend ended back with me.his car messed up and now has it for sale on craigslist.so I took the intercooler and put it on mine. he also let me have his crower cams for free. I can't wait for you to get your gsx running.when you do we should take a cruise around dallas to break both our dms's in. Since they are both under the knife.im glad you got my car though cause I know it went to a good owner,also I can't believe I forgot to tell you that the gsx was owned by only one other person besides me.it had been a father and son project car until the timing belt slipped and it found its way into my hands.

Yeah bro alot my parts are going back to you thats funny, and yeah i can wait to have it done, but as of right now im on my journal when i first got the gsx as the days past and week im posting all the things that when on with my gsx. Them ill get to present time as of right now im on dec of 2010.

looks sort of like a supra wannabe side skirts and wing? im not a fan of the riced out interior... repaint that front bumper everything else looks really good from the outside

Yes in my second post I said I was trading my gst, to get a 95 gsx with is completely stock when I first got it.

It wasn't so big in person...the wing kinda looked ok,but when I traded my gsx for his gst I removed the wing and gave it back to him.then it ended up on my old gsx.hey daniel I was out by your house today in dallas.I went to go buy a 96 3000gt.

Ok Ill explain the reason of the wing and Eli you this too the thing with the wing is that my wife likes it, and I can't make her like the 2gb highrise wing I been fighting with her because of this.

March of 2011 timing belt fail time for first top end rebuild.​

After driving my gsx for 3 or 4 months timing belt break, in front of my house after doing a dumb pull, all vales were bent and head was trash unfortunately I can't find the pics I took when the belt failed. So I pulled off the head and the vales were bent two weeks when by I found a used head, I bought it them took it to the machine shop they resurface the head and they press bleed the my lifters here came failure againg. Nothing but bad luck during that time.

Yes sir it looks alot better than when I first got my gsx.. right now I'm on April of 2010 where my timing belt first broke, top end rebuild.

Here is a pic of the top end rebuild that failed because the machine shop I took it dieron know what they were doing..

well my engine failed after top end rebuild, I had a broken vales, dented piston,rocker arm failure it broke on pieces, head was trashed, it had holes, so it was time to rebuild or find a used 7bolt engine. So I when and look for a 7 bolt I found one at a junkyard I bought for 450 and and changed gaskets seals and head gasket and everything and drop her in with the help of my Jaime who is also a member her too,

well it was time for the motor to going and my friend jaime drove more than 21/2 hours to get to my house to drop the motor in since ididn't have a cherrypicke,enjoy the pics of the motor going in

Well after having fun driving my gsx for 3months my 7bolt block decides to go for a walk and throws a rod. Well I was coming from the mall with my wife and son we were getting the last part of Christmas shopping whent my 7bolt block decides to take a dump, things that happen during when the motor fail, check engine was coming on and off I have dsmlink so I didn't have no check engine light on, but when I saw it coming on and off something was going bad, felt huge lost of power, and them the rod comes off from the block made a hole on the block and the oil pan, so my 7bolt is garbage now . So from this point is when the build starts and 6bolt swap starts too.

Well after my gsx threw the rod and walked. I started to save some money to buy a used 6bolt block and few parts, well lots of parts. Finally my carbon fiber lip arrive after 8months on the group buy extreme dimensions had on July of 11'.well I had a change got me 2gb front bumper and rear bumper same color I'm painting my gsx, I got them so cheap, I also finally got the 2gb head lights almost new condition out of my friend 99gst.
