1G 93 Talon Tsi Auto thoughts??

This car is super tempting to not let get toasted. Never seen a Gray and Tan 1g leather interior...4 hour round trip from me. Thoughts?

My first DSM/Car in 2002 was a 93 Talon Tsi AWD 5speed and gray. I have a soft spot for clean 1gb Talon.

Grab it. Auto AWD DSMs are the truth for a fun, fast, easy street car. Unopened transmission, stock torque converter is good for 10's. Even a 3 bolt rear on an auto is good for solid 1/4 times.


With a 14B, MBC at 21lbs w/ rewire, and race gas I ran 12.8's on my old Auto. Stock literally everything else. Paper air filter. Stock fuel pump. With a bigger pump, 2G MAF, hard UICP/LICP, Evo 560 injectors and MBC set at whatever the 14B felt like making it ran mid 12's reliably until it heatsoaked the stock IC. Absolutely zero tune. No SAFC, no Ostrich, nothing. And with a shiftbox or the kiggly shifter mod, driving them are a blast. With a 16G, FMIC, SD, and a leaky HG(not fully blown but it used coolant pretty reliably) it trapped 91MPH in the 1/8th mi. Never got to go back with a fixed engine and a solid tune.


I will always love an Auto DSM for an easy fast car. I enjoy my M/T don't get me wrong, but there is something intoxicating about not having to remove or touch the transmission at all, and just bolt up go fast goodies. Aside from a transcooler which I don't really count. Never have to worry about your center diff/2 spider diff exploding, never worry about "is my clutch enough to hold this power", stop and go traffic is an absolute breeze.

FWD Autos are good too, but that price is too steep for an Auto FWD. I don't really care how clean it is. They can be setup pretty good to launch but it takes way more work.
