92 talon wont stay timed properly

Sorry if this is a something heard of before. Ive done alot of research and cant find anything.

I just recently bought a 92 tsi awd(all stock) from a friend back from school....which some local shops had all out of whack. Timing off between crank and cams etc.....got that all fixed and running again and noticed the car idled a lil high still(around 1100) with a slight miss in it. I think they adjusted the CAS because I could see where it used to be. I got the timing light out and followed the steps to adjust it by grounding the timing plug and checking with the light. It was around 15-BTDC so I loosened the CAS and adjusted it, which did some good. got the idle nice(around 7500) and the timing around 5-8 BTDC where I wanted it. Tightened the CAS back up, shut the car off, unhooked the ground plug like it said. Started up the car again and all out of whack again. Ive tried it severall times and it wont stay where I adjust it. Maybe im missing something??? Any help would be great this isnt making sense to me

Is the CAS 180ed out? Is the ecu leaking that can cause all kinds of weird issues. I live in nampa shoot me a message if you cant get it figured out.

I thought the CAS was the problem.....I set the cams and crank to TDC and pulled out the CAS which was 180 out so I corrected it by re aligning the marks.....its odd the only was I can get it to stay at 5-8* before TDC is to adjust the CAS without the ground plug hooked up.....still doesnt act normal and wont rev like it should...not sure on the ECU tho......Im goin to PM you thanks man

Checked the ECU today and no capacitors were leaking or anything. It looked pretty good from what I could see

No Ideas anybody else? I figured this site would at least compare to customtacos.com.....
