To start off car ran for 6hrs fine in my garage. I went out to start it getting no spark then I changed out everything (cas, coil, ptu) getting spark, fuel and compression. Car will start and run for 5-10 seconds and dies. Then try to start the car again and just turns over. I have checked the ecu, it is fine. I checked all the wires ect, I checked the cts. Any suggestions? BTW this is a 1990 eagle talon tsi awd.

I kinda had the same problem in my car and it turned out to be a bad fuel pump, check the voltage going to your pump or that your injectors are squirting when your prime your car.

i will check in it in the morning thanks

i did the fuel pump test with the connector next to the firewall runs great, i believe it is not fuel related alot of fuel on my pistons when i checked the cas

yeah the timing marks are correct and the firing order is 4-1-2-3, I also checked out the fuel pump. I am going to start checking all the grounds on my car.

To start off I am running ngk bpr6es. When the car runs it runs alright. It is hard to tell b/c the car doesn't stay running long enough. Also when it ran in my garage it ran great. I have checked all the grounds. I am getting good power to the fuel pump. I am getting the power to the fuel injectors. I double checked the ecu everything looks good. I even replaced spark plug wires. I don't recall if the tach moves or not. On my avc-r the is shows the rmps as the motor turns over. I will keep looking. If I find out anything else I will post it. Thanks for the input.

try holding your foot on the gas pedal to see if it will start and stay running sometimes the idle speed motor won't move and the car wont start unless you hold the throttle open.

Iwill have to try that tonight I haven't had time b/c of work. I will post an update. Thanks

Well the car started up and died again. This time ran for 10 seconds hit the gas it died. So I tried starting the car again this time I has spark test hooked up I confirmed getting spark and I took the spark plugs out. I have gas sitting on top of my pistons. I checked out all the sensors (isc,tps.ptu,cas,etc.) I had my ecu rebuilt a few years ago. I am running out of things to check anyother ideas.

Update
I was told I have injectors that are tuck open and they are dumping fuel into my cylinders causing the car to flood itself out. I am going to replace the injectors with the stock ones to see if this works. I will keep everyone updated.

Update on the car. I guess I am making a little progess. The car ran for about 30 seconds the other day. I changed the oil b/c there was some gas in the oil. I cleaned the fuel injectors. I have checked and re-checked everything. I checked the ecu out it seems to be fine. I am at an end point don't know what else to check out.

Does the car throw any codes?? Cel?

Compression check?

How did u check all the sensors?? Did u use a voltmeter and ohms to check?

Any kind of tuning device?? Maybe a bad tune?

What's fuel pressure? 38-43psi stock?

Looks like u got quite some mods on ## car.

I used a voltmeter to check all the sensors in my car. The compression is good and so is the fuel pressure. I haven't changed changed the tune for the car. The car sat for a while cleaned the gas tank and has fresh fuel, changed the plugs and the ecu doesn't have any codes. I have double checked the grounds and pulled out the ecu and checked it out. The ecu has been rebuilt. I also changed the cas, ptu and coil.

Do you have an AFPR?? I didn't see one in your file?

What is your A/F ratio at?? Rich? Lean? Could be your first suggestion of running cylinder being flooded with fuel. But then again, the ECU is programmed to recognized rich and lean, therefore throw CEL.

:hmm::hmm:

A 1G wont throw a code for running rich, hell itll barely throw a code at all unless something is unplugged or completely dead. Id bet a whole paycheck that youll never see an actual O2 sensor code either (where the sensor is truly the problem).

OP, what youre describing is what was happening to the 90 AWD EPROM ECU thats sitting next to me waiting to be fixed. The caps went kablooey and ruined some traces.

Its amazing how little a lot of people on this site actually KNOW about a DSM let alone a 1G. I mean no offense, but really, a lot of you guys guess a LOT (which i ironically is rule #3 right above where you post, yes i know this 'breaks' rule #2 LOL).

I pulled the ecu out already. I will take it out again and double check. I just had it rebuilt a couple of years ago. I have 2 other computer that need to be sent out they look like your pictures you posted. I don't have an fpr I just bought one waiting for it to come in the mail. I know my car is running rich b/c of the way the plugs looked when I took the old ones out. I will keep this updated.

longshot but when the car ran in the garage was the hood up? have you recently installed a battery? Check your hood and make sure the positive side isn't touching the hood. I once had a problem where I had left off my battery hold down for a day and periodically the battery hit the hood and grounded out. Car would momentarily die/hiccup and then be fine. If you're doing all startup, die stuff with hood up then all bets are off. It's easy enough to listen to the injectors when the car does fire. Easy to check for stuck injector too. Fire up fuel pump manually and then watch fuel pressure. Does it bleed off. Smell each cylinder after that and see if any are full of gas.

After starting the fuel pump I pulled out the spark plugs the cylinders smell like gas. I double checked the spark, fuel and compression. The car will start then die after that is just turns over and doesn't start. I put a voltmeter on the ecu and put a buzzer to count the sounds. The ecu seems to be fine. After cranking it just floods itself.
