car wont start and stay running

so I put a new battery in my car and it ran fine. I parked it before the last big snow up around philly and went ot start it the otherday after finally digging it out and no dice. It cranks alot, then if I pump the gas it will eventually sputter to life. But I have to keep the RPM's up or it will die. before all this started it had idle surge when it was warm, did the IAC die?

how long did it sit for awhile or just a few week you might ant to put new fuel high octane in it see if that works for you also change your spark plugs do a tune up and check for water in the line also start once and stay in the car let it warm up then let of the throttle... does the car stay running on its own?

Just an idea but...

This is easy to do. Take out the plugs and crank the car over with the key for a minute or so and have a friend watch to see if any water comes out of the spark plug wells. If water does, you were close to hydrolocking the car. I don't really think this could be the case but it is easy to do and worth a shot. And if you need new plugs anyway then all the more reason to do it!

Make sure and report back with your findings!

The way I read the post was that it has only been sitting a short time. A week or so. Gas does not go bad until 60 days and even then the car would start.
