See what I don't get is why people like that can't just appreciate the time and hard work someone put's into there build's instead they have to look for something to complain about instead keeping there ####ing mouth's shut.

Its called "envy" he seeks attention. I have been around a while and seen it first hand but if you do a search on his threads highlighting his builds they are empty. :shhh: Hell look at the last build thread he posted highlighting the creation of the bucket he has now and you will notice its half a page long with him being half of the post.

Goes to show what the community thinks about the type of product he puts out. Now he feels the need to be critical of others because I am sure in his own head he doesn't understand why other people get so much more positive attention than he does. I don't pick on anyone else's build nor criticize because we all have different amounts of time, money, knowledge, patience etc and sh*t happens so no need to rub it in peoples faces. I'd love to devote more time to posting up in my build thread and plan to when time allows but rest assured the only people I care about are those that can gain something. I don't just post pictures and do an "oh look at me" thread I do it to hopefully offer help in highlighting things over looked or not mentioned prior or new products and ideas.

Maybe one day I'll have the time and desire to record chase the big boys in the mean time I'll just keep doing my thing and building stuff I can be proud of and enjoy.:)

Couldnt have said it better. ## engine bay is CLEAN as shit. Ppl always hate on stuff they'll never be able to do. And i would constantly post pics and reply in threads but then i remember that i have a life. But if you dont have haters then u must be doing something wrong. Doesnt matter how long it takes, as long as it gets done thats all that matters. Keep it up bud, i like this build

i plan on getting in the 9's with my 6 bolt motor, 2g auto trans, hx40 pro turbo. what all mods did you do to the trans to hold the power? Shift kit, 5 friction front clutch pack, shift box, high stall torque converter. And is that about it?
Thanks would appreciate your input and .02!

Sorry that your post got lost in the nonsense..

As far as the trans goes it is pretty simple. The bone stock tran all on it own could handle the power you want to achieve depending on how deep into the 9s we are going but many times the clutches have lots and lots of miles on them and in the end if you are going to rebuild it you might as well improve upon it.

Other than the items I did I would recommend even shot peening the gears in the trans which is what was suggested by Kiggly about 7yrs ago. I have done 2 trans that way but this one was not shot peened. I've yet to break one so I figured I'd test it out.

But the bare minimums I suggest to anyone are:

Shift kit - (Freshen up your set up and makes the shifts more precise, the kiggly mod is what will make them more firm over all.)

Kiggly front clutch 5 friction kit- 6 (Kiggly race kit) is too many and 4 (stock) is not enough LOL. Its something that burns out eventually anyways and considering the Front clutch holds the most power for the longest duration it is very important.

Welded center diff. - If something is going to break, it'll be this and not only that but it is night and day difference during a launch. The negative effects of it don't seem to be as bad in the auto as it is in the 5spd but it is quite noticeable if you drive your car much. I have a ratcheting shifter as well and it becomes a bit annoying when you have to make 3 point turns haha, not nearly as easy as flipping it into reverse in the 5spd.

Everything else is optional but all in all a full rebuild kit can give you piece of mind. I didn't do an End clutch rebuild because my trans didn't need it but once you open her up I advice going through all of your clutch packs and checking wear. No reason to put it back in just to pull it down the road.

Also you mentioned the shift boxes, they have come a long way and the one offered by Forcedfour is an amazing piece of technology that can do a lot to simplify the installation as well as improve operation. The Galant I am building was going to be auto but I figure I wanted to keep it 100% original and stuck with the 5spd for now.:thumb:

I wish you the best on your quest to 9s. Its a lot easier now than it has ever been but don't under estimate the small things that will try to nickle and dime you into submission. What ever your target budget is add no less than 25% as a rule to cover the unknown.

Hater? LMFAO Please. This kid is where I was 15 years ago. I've had my NHRA 9 sec licence since 2001. For atleast 4 years, every winner of the World Fold Challenge had something my Mig or Tig touched on it. I could fill this forum with 7 and 8 second cars that I have personally had a hand in. But, I don't have an elitist attitude.

But, Carry on.

And this is how it should be. Iv personally built one 8second car, and been a main part of 4 others that have been in the 8s as well. The ppl on this forum that actually KNOW me, know that im not cocky or brag about anything until somebody wants to start talking shit. BUT i think u should post a couple pics of the 7 and 8sec cars :sneaky::D

Thanks for the encouragement, good to see some people understand that a few of us have lives beyond forums and DSMs. As I said the other guys who have nice cars such as yourself or even the members who care about the details seem to appreciate it. I have yet to have someone respectable give me sh*t but then again it is to be expected.:shhh:

Just curious, but why didnt u go with a built 2g trans?

The original reason to run the 2g was the billet TCs. Recently there have been great improvements to what is available for the 1G trans and I really don't need a lock up converter as offered in the 2Gs.

Back when I first started running Autos was around the time Lee was doing his thing and it seemed interesting. A boat load of autos around and people were literally giving them away LOL. Fast forward to now and they are virtually impossible to get your hands on. I'll take what I can get. :p

The funniest part of the journey were all the purist who swore they'd NEVER run an auto trans, fast forward to today and I can count on my hand how many of them still run 5spds LOL Now I need everyone to go back to the 5spds so I can stock up on autos.

O i gotcha. Wasnt trying to say anything negative about your decision, i was just wondering. Im definitly still learning about autos. Until now iv never touched one. LOL.

I was one of those guys. :ohdamn: But ill never completly rule out doing something. My friends almost had to beat the auto idea into me. But i figured id give it a shot. And its just a trans, it not like it cant ever be switched if you dont like it. LOL

I still get to "shift" so its not so bad LOL. A lot cheaper than full drive line upgrade... Nothin like having $15k into your drive line then going to an event and watching Jake Montgomery shatter a $4K shep T-Case.. the same one you had just ordered hahaha. Yep I sold my entire dog box shep setup when they were just getting popular and made my money back plus some and used it to buy another car all together. I couldn't imagine knowning what the community knows now and still running one but many do and many have still been successful so props to them for making it happen. :thumb::thumb:

Yea definitly. Im saving around $9000 with the decision to go auto. $2500 rather then $7000 for trans, around $1000 for converter rather then $5000 for a clutch. Plus the other misc stuff. So that is gonna just be put somewhere else. LOL. I think its a good decision. But hey, To each is own.

Hahaha she's been done a while brotha, actually when I posted this thread the pics I was posting up were past dated. It was the little jab that I had waiting for the doubters questioning it was the simple fact the car was running at the time >=P

Thanks for reminding me however that I need to update this thread, I am rebuilding a new harness after I sold my last one to a local as well as building another Galant GVR4.

Busy busy :p

I spent the fall building a 2.3L Whipped Lighting and an LSx RX7: (never mind the commentary it was a video made for a FB car group)

Haha you are almost like me, i don't post the built thread until i'm done. :D anyways, glad to see you are building other toys too, i'm doing a road race s2k drifter 2012 BMW M3 and RHD Silvia , sometimes Dsmers are like in their own cave and stuff they don't wanna get out of that box but each their own, i'm a car enthusiast and love all kinds of cars.

You got more haters than Justin Bieber!!! (mostly people that fails at life though) :p you got the beiber fever. :tease: :p

If you buy used yo can get a converter for half that price and the transmission as well. One thing to remember is you will need the auto rear end as well but thats only a couple hundred at most.

My ENTIRE auto swap only cost me $500 including the upgrades to it. I traded some parts along with it of course to get the price that low but it just goes to show that there are a few out there who don't yet know or care about the increased rarity and value f the auto so you can still get a good deal :hellyeah:

LOL!

Yeah its to be expected, we are all around the same age so many times people want to gauge their life against your own rather than worrying about themselves. Who the fk cares what type of paint I use or how long it takes? A majority of the crap people whine to me about is complete bullsh*t but even so would any of it really matter?:hmm:

I mean they can't honestly have such crappy lives that the very structure i wish to operate affects them in a way so detrimental to their lives juxtaposed to their own daily routines that they need to let me know their disappointment and concern runs deep.

"Everyone is a critic" as the saying goes. But seeing the level of care and quality I put into everything I do I sometimes laugh at the audacity of some people to search high and low to find something to be bitter about. Sad sad people.:sosad:

F4A33 | W4A33 | Transmission Rebuild kit

Translab Shift Kit (High Performance Type)

http://www.forcedfour.com/shiftbox_pgm.htm

Hopefully find a used 1g or 2g billet high torque converter

Shot peened

And welded diff

That's looks like my shopping list for trans.

LMK what you think!

That kit is pretty basic, this one is not only of better quality but its half the price:

W4A33-1 Transmission rebuild kit (All Wheel Drive)

Also its not a matter of yanking every piece and replacing clutches, you will have to measure and spec a few things along the way.

Here is the PDF you will need:

http://www.atdsm.com/pdf/atoh3.pdf

Just take your time and make sure the area you are working is VERY clean. There are a few parts out side of that kit you'd need for a 100% complete rebuilt but all in all most transmissions really wont even need it. Unless it was beaten on I believe the service life of the auto transmission is well over 100K miles.

Hopefully that helps put some money back in your pocket that you can use towards another area of your build. If I can help with anything else just let me know.:thumb:

Just read front to back and I love it!

The build or the drama? :p

Lmk the reason the ipt kit is so much Is because its a high performance rebuild kit and inludes the 5 front clutch kit and 25% more torque capacity in 3rd gear do some more research between them and let me kno

The other kit uses the thinker sets so it will hold just as much if not more in addition to the IPT kit on top of that none of the frictions really need improving other than the front clutch so its over kill either way. This kit addresses all the parts that actually have wear issues.

Also that kit is $230 plus the $100 kiggly kit making it still MUCH cheaper.

Im gettin one from Metro and the converter is coming from Precision. And its got a Ford 9in in it already. So were good in that dept :thumb:

The Raven actually ran??? Proof?

If I can source a video from my FB page a few years back that's about as good as I can do. I don't own a GoPro and have no plans of purchasing one and there is no way for me to strap my D7000 or D600 Nikon to the car.

That car isn't a highlight of my building career so am not quite sure what reason there would be to lie about it. I just posted up a video of 2 vehicles worth 3Xs that of the Raven (each) with more than double the fab work both built within a 2-3 month span (mostly waiting on fab parts) A simple DSM project is hardly a stretch. Right now tho I am focusing on my Galant #1619 beginning March plus I just bought a 335i as a daily and I'm ready to start modding that as well.

Forgive me if I fail to find the time in the day to back track FB or friends pages to see if someone got a glimpse of the Raven in flight but I'm rather busy. :coy:
