I got my Talon during summer and it was driving really well up until now. This monday i went to stop at a stop sign. When i stopped my car just stalled out and nothing worked, it has been happening for about 3 days on/off. what ive noticed was that the rpms drop below 500 when it stalls out. so if anyone knows whats wrong could ya help me out?

Maybe your ISC is going out, so you could run the checks on that, I believe they have it at VFAQ, as well as if the temperature has very dramatically changed, you might need to adjust your biss, are you venting to the atmosphere? checked for vacum leaks, ECU capacitors leaking, does it click from the dash/console? Sorry, but this is a problem that could potentially have multiple causes.

Yea when the car stalls out then there is a click from my dash. I was planning on taking it to the shop on saturday.

Yeah I have this problem with my GS as well... I posted about it a while back, no one came up and had a straight answer for me. I thought the click in the dash might be the ECU but that is just me jumping to conclusions.

well what happens is that the car will stall out as soon as i put it in neutral and the rpms drop below 500(which it only happens from time to time but more often then not) and then the engine will die, power steering dies, and all my radio followed by the click in the dash.
Ive read about the BISS and how that affects the engine idle. Does my prob. sound like anything that i could adjust by the BISS?

Thank you. The order of what happens first is important as I'll explain in a second.

Like Robster says, you should check the coils in your ISC. This should be part of a regular maint cycle at this point for DSM's but a quick check is turn on your AC. If the engine idles up then your ISC isn't gone. Then you should warm the car up and check and reset as needed the BISS and timing.

It's normal for the ECU to turn off the fuel pump (one of the clicks you hear) after the engine dies. It does this to reduce the fire risk in an accident.

It's also "normal" for a bad ECU to cause the engine to die when it reboots due to capacitor damage. When the ECU crashes due to power problems the both the MPI relays (the one controlling the MAF, ISC, Solenoids, ... and the one controlling the fuel pump) will click, usually just as the engine dies. If the power to the CPU is really unstable the MPI relay may chatter. One other thing that happens when the ECU reboots is the CEL light will come on for about 4 seconds just like it does when you first turn the ignition on.

It doesn't sound like your having that problem so hopefully just correctly adjusting the BISS will take care of your stalling.
