Resolved '90 Talon TSi AWD only cranks when clutch bypass is pressed in.

Hey guys, new to the dsms kind of... When I press in the clutch to start I only hear a single click. I can crank when I have the clutch bypass pressed in. Any ideas on how I can use the clutch to start again? Thank you -1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD- *SOLVED* For some reason I didn’t notice that the clutch bypass was always pressed in with the clutch. I thought it was for manual use Looks like the little grommet that presses down the switch was gone.

Apologies. The small box under the dash with the white peg like button on it needs to be pressed in to crank. It is beside the top of my clutch on the left.

likely the little plastic button/grommet is missing on the pedal assembly. You can also unplug that switch and then you don't need it to start. Beware it will start and jump if you leave it in gear.

Yep, this was it. Looks like the little grommet that sits in the hole is not there. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I orginally thought that switch was for a manual start I didn’t know that the clutch pressed it down Thank you for the help. Happy Labor Day!

It's actually a clutch safety switch. Many of us unplug it to not have a thrust load on the crank at cold startup. Of course you lose the safety if you do so. I grew up before these so I've always habitually gone to neutral at startup anyway.
