90 Oil cooler

I cant get one of the banjo bolts to seal going into the cooler. Two times now ive replaced the crush washers and its still leaking. Got any great ideas how to seal it up?

Is it an option for you to pull the housing and weld two fitting on there?

Put some gray RTV on the threads and torque it to 25 ft/lbs, also make sure you're using the CORRECT size copper crush washers.

K I will try that. Such a pain in my ass hahah I have to pull the bumper and my front mount just to get to it. Hey gofer Ive got another post up in I think turbo tech about my ofh and a mechanical oil pressure guage. Got any insight on that one??

Copper crush washers can't seal if the surfaces they are crushed between aren't pretty smooth and flat to start with. I always clean up the housing, banjo bolt, and fitting to remove any corrosion that might impair the washer from making a seal.

As Gofer also pointed out they need to be correctly sized so they aren't too loose around the shank of the banjo bolt.

also put some yellow teflon tap on the threads this will also help.

You have to pay attention if you use tape on a banjo bolt. There are two holes on the bolt. Remember that. That is what I would do.

The threads in the oil cooler are aluminum, and they're thin. Have you checked closely to see if the oil cooler is cracked? Also make sure you're using new OEM crush washers with the rubber seal, not plain copper crush washers.

Ya I got some oem ones. Car is acting up again so ill make sure to check that it sealed when I get her done.
