90 Eclipse GSX

I just purchased a 90 eclipse gsx and the guy i purchased it from said the ecu was and eprom ECU so for the 1g what does that mean as far as tunning?

Means your lucky. You can run DSM link or a custom chip if you can still find them.

Eprom is good to go with dsmlink, also your tach might have a bad connection off the back of your cluster gauge

OK I'll pull the cluster today the gas gauge stopped working to so Im thinking the cluster is on its way out

Tach issues are from running a 91-94 ecu in a 90 dsm. Do some further reading before you start tearing into the cluster looking for "loose connections".

That's correct. The 91-94 and 90 ecu modules aren't 100% compatible. The wiring pinouts need to be altered, the gauge cluster can remain as is.

Also with the eprom you can run the chepper Ostrich set up. Not as easy as Link but gets the job done for less money.

Thank you for the diagram I started looking at the wiring harness to the ECU and he had alote of stuff butt connected im going to go through it and solder everything up Im pretty sure its not getting a proper connection thats why its jumping around

That´s a video of the rev counter from my 89´ Laser.
Actually I found out that someone changed the original ECU to an 91´ one.

Now I know why the needle jumps up and down if I accelerate (after 3 years, yeah)

Yup thats exactly what my car is doing. And also i was sorting through the engine and noticed the boost solenoid is missing thier is no MBC just a vaccum line running from the gooseneck to the wastegate what kind of issues could that cause and why would he have done that?

No issues at all. It's just running off waste gate spring pressure. Last owner probably had a boost controller hooked up and removed it when he sold the car. Probably lost the boost control solenoid.
