1G No start with 90 Eclipse GSX

Need some help with a diagnosis. I have a 1990 Eclipse GSX with about 100,000 on the clock. Took it to the store one day ran fine, came out and it wouldn't start. What it does do is crank over, sputters a little while still cranking, but will not run on its own. I did the basic checks such as make sure there was spark, changed the air filter, changed the plugs. I also had a friend of mine who is a mechanic look at it and scan it with a snap on computer, leading to the diagnosis of a faulty mass air flow sensor. Replaced this and it still does the same thing. We also checked the fuel pressure and i belive it read about 40-50 lbs. If anybody has any ideas or a similar problem please respond, also if you need additional info please ask. Thanks in advance.

you might have a bad ECU mine was doing this same thing, but I had a combination of a bad ECU and a bad MAF. what happens if you unplug the MAF eclectrical connector then try to start the car? if it starts and runs .... go plug in the MAF while the car is still running.... if the car dies it is a bad MAF! At least thats what mine did!

We tried that already with the old maf and it made no difference. May I ask where you got a new ECU and how much it was?
