Alright so I have a 1990 ECLIPSE GSX my friend bought about 2 weeks ago, this a crank but wont start, fuel, air delivery, and spark are all good and powerful(real good), I mean spark is perfect, gapped and good ground and all, fuel, getting the whole 9 yards, air obviously yes, now, this all happened right after I replaced the battery that the car did not want to start, before replacement of the battery the car cranked and started good, (IDLED), now I replace the battery it Cranks and wont start..

To give good details, this car was messed with, it has LM1 Translator, not sure what exactly it is, but it has it, every wire hooked(tapped) up to the ECU’s wires…

Now we have tap and wiggled everywhere to see what’s going on and nothing..

Do this cars have MAIN FUSES? And if it does where would it be? And would it crank no start with a bad one(if it has one)*….:(

Thank you.. Appreciate the help..:thumb:

This is a good place to start to diagnose a no start: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-miscellaneous/217951-how-diagnose-no-start.html

I believe and LM-1 is a wideband o2 sensor.

Yes the car will crank but not start with blown fuses. The main fuse box is under the hood on the passenger side fender.

Hope this helps!

Maybe a bad CAS sensor . Make sure your getting fuel and spark first and tell us how you checked . Follow the instructions above and let us know whats going on with the car . Then we can help you from there .

yea, i have done everything on the vfaqs, but timing, i guess i will have to play with it, and see what happens.. but what i dont understand is why this would happen just because i replaced the battery..

It could be anything with these cars man i tell ya . Welcome to the DSM world . If you have a timing light , mark the notch on the flywheel with whiteout or something and use a timing light to check and see if the ignition timing is 5 degrees btdc . Do you have a multimeter? Also , take your ECU out and smell it , if it smells like fish your ECU is shot .

I had a no start condition similar to this. It turned out to be leaky capacitors in my ECU. Pull out the ECU and take the cover off of it. Just do a visual inspection and see of they look burned or appear to be leaking. It's an easy check that wouldn't hurt.

ok, so i played with the car today, i had my friend(owner of gsx) start the car while i spray a bit of starting fluid through the TB and after holding the key on start position for more then a while teh car finally started, but i had to play with TB butterfly to keep it running, after 10 minutes of holdign butterfly and slowly letting go, the car idles, now i have been turning it every 30-45 minutes since that first start, car idles rought but idles, last owner broke the Coolant temperature sensor that is hooked up to the filler housing, so it doesnt knwo when car is hot or cold, my guess, so i will be fixing that..

Yeah that sensor is a pain, i have ecmlink v3 and i was having trouble starting until i got the engine warm and noticed my connectors were loose and my temp would jump from 210 to -55, that screws it up alot.
