OK everyone just bought this car. pretty cheap 3500. has whole list on new parts:sneaky:. this is what i got
engine:
weisco pistons .020 over
eagle rods
arp studs, main rod, and head bolts
balance shaft elim kit
rebuilt head to OEM spec (new everything) stock cams
motor has less then 100 miles on it
new 14b turbo
tranny:
build by mud pit performance
full syncro kit
double syncro 2nd
new shift rails 1-2 and 3-4
welded center diff
6 puck unsprung clutch
stock flywheel
rebuilt transfer case

has huge list of everything replaced. you name it its probably replaced. everything besides motor and tranny, are OEM parts. and does have eprom computer also comes with ( not installed parts) hx-35 turbo, boost controller, oil cooler, car comes with inter-cooler kit from spearco.

OK i need ideas of good power adders, it will not be a dd, just weekend and strip.

i will plan on taking head off for stage 2 upgrade ( port to max and polish, 1MM over sized valves, bronze valve guides, springs and cams)
going to e85 set up. super 20g turbo, intake manifold, 255lph pump with regulator, better CV alxes.

need good cam option, fuel management, and other things that would be good to do. thanks

Im kinda in the same situation as you. I have mine as a weekend warrior. On my car, I have 1200cc injectors and some BC280's. I love the sound of my cams at idle (i have a 3'' turbo back straight pipe) but cold starting kinda sucks. In the winter if you decide to go with big of a cam make sure to have a kerosene heater nearby...LOL. :thumb:

For reference, my friend has a '92 Laser with a bone stock motor running a 20g and E85. The motor has 180k and is FULL factory (save for ARP studs), never even had the head off. He made a touch under 400awhp to the ground and his trq was just a high. It ran 11.89's with a failing 5 speed trans and is currently under the knife for an auto swap.

What are you looking to do/make? What are your goals and what will this be for? You will still get mixed answers overall because there is not guideline to follow. The best I can tell you is show you these 2 links.

DSM 1/4 Mile Times - 1/4 ET
DSM Dyno Challenge - Highest Horsepower

Find what you want to run, look at what that member has for a setup. Research the parts involved and if need be PM the member and ask why he choose those said parts.

Do you have paperwork for all the parts and maintenance? If you weren't there or don't know the previous owner, assume that maintenance wasn't done and change it.

i like mixed answers, because it gives me better ideas, I'm not really on a budget, but yet i am. trying to get right at 500hp. no need to do much more then that since it will be street / strip car. . oh and yes i have a paper work on the car. complete paper with pics of the build with close up on block stamp and head stamp. also researched the place he did the work with and they did confirm that the work was done there. ( ain't my first rodeo) also thanks for the links ill check them out.

OK i have good idea for the head set up.

I'm going with BC 280/280 with 1mm over sized valves, and all necessary springs and guides and proper lifters.

also going to get evo 3 exhaust mani from slow boy racing. I'm needing good turbo option. i have a hx-35 but needs to be rebuilt. (bad shaft play)

going with e85 fuel for sure. i don't know what size injectors to go with. going to put a 29x12x3 fmic. ( yes i will be cutting front bumper to make it fit correctly so the whole fmic has no restriction in air flow. will have custom sheet metal to direct air flow to radiator correctly. will have 3in o2 housing with 3in exhaust all the way out. thinking of coil on plug set up too. that bad or good?
i will have a fuel management too. 255lph pump, fuel regulator, and fuel rail.

so guys if I'm doing something wrong with the set up or I'm missing something please tell me so i can make the adjustments. thanks to everyone that has posted. I'm taking note of all and considering the best for my project.:hellyeah:

aint no reason to get smart. whats the deal with all these smart ass people on dsm tuners. every thread theres someone getting smart or being an ass. grow up poeple damn.

Ok. He's trying to tell you to educate yourself. When I got into DSM's at 15, I didn't know SHIT. I haven't had a decent DSM until a year ago and I'm 18. I spent a LOT of time researching. Building a car isn't about buying parts with big numbers slapped on them.

I'm on a 16g. Stock head, stock cam, stock intake mani, 2g exhaust mani that is ported to match my big 16g which is also ported, ported o2 housing, 3" DP, 3" Turboback, Punishment FMIC, TRE Stage 2 trans, and some other things. Ran a 13.6 on the stock MAF on 10psi tuned with TunerProRT by myself.

Now on 1250 FIC BlueMax injectors and E85, 30psi of boost, tuned on Jackal running Speed Density. I intend to crack 11's. Car weighs 2860lbs.

What I'm saying is, don't get crazy with parts. Your setup is lacking in the sense that with 280 cams, you won't get much of a benefit until you go to a SMIM. Before you ask, that's a Sheet Metal Intake Manifold.

So sit back, relax, break the car in correctly and research in the meantime. These things are meant to be enjoyed and it WILL turn you into a mechanic.

It's not that we're being smart ass, we are telling the truth.

Look at it this way, every time some one gets a DSM, they come on here asking for help. We tell them the links that answers their questions.

Some people realize that since the Newest cars are 11 years old, there is a chance that most of the questions they have, are likely to have been answered before.

Others Don't want to take the time to actually search for their answer and just want to be spoon fed the answers.

We are not trying to be elitist, or stuck up. It's just most of us have asked similar questions and eventually realized that there is a chance our answer is some where in the forums.

Ask yourself this. You have a mysterious illness. Would you pefer to have Dr House. The man who figures out the problem and Bam! Has the disease by the end of the episode.

Or would you rather have Bubbah Ray PHD. Using a telephone to ask how to do surgery while you're laying on his table with your intestines hung over his coveralls and John Deere hat.

One has researched and figured things out on his own. The other can't read so he has some one else tell him what to do.

Same with these cars. If we spoon feed the answers to people, they never learn to search for themselves, and end up in trouble. (Mind you, being on the side of the road in the driving rain is a bit different than sitting at home with a cup of coffee)

"Give a man a fish, Feed him for a Day. Teach a man HOW to fish, Feed him for a life time."

understandable but some people that don't have time to read through the thousands of posts on here. i work just about endless. so i don't have the time to sit and read through them all. just was asking for almost basic info with what info i had given, but since everyone wants you to read , read and then guess what read some more. well i don't have that time like most of the people on here. so sorry if i ask noob questions or questions that have already been answered.

so back to the original thread

Rebuild the hx, cheaper than a 20g, more power, same ammnt of lag.

What's the max whp you've driven? 500awhp is ALOT. A lot of people have 500hp goals when 350 is enough for their needs.

Its lazy noobs like you that make people become the way they are, it gets old every single day seeing some noob ask the same stupid questions that have been answer thousands(LITERALLY)of times. If you can't take the time to research for your own car that your modding you shouldn't be modding the car plain and simple. Sorry if you don't like everyone's opinion, but anyone is gonna say the same thing that has been into DSM's for a long time and has been on the forum for a long time.

i have driven tons of cars most hp was the 650hp mustang i built a year ago, ( which blew it up after other car hit mine at drag strip and throttle stuck) but this is my first awd. i was thinking to rebuild the hx. probably should just do that, like you said cheaper and better. THANKS

behive valve springs,titanium retainers etc.
044 bosh inline with a 255 n a afpr
exhaust mani
hx35
Ext wastegate.
Speed density
