98 GSX ..Injen intake Greddy type RS BOV.. Manual Boost controller got the gauges n everything. DNP headers(manifold). Magna Flow all the way to turbo.. Stock Injectors ..255 Walbro..and stock Turbo..
Might not have enough money even if its over 1 grand try n set me up with something close

I need a good priced yet reliable Upgrade path. What Injectors and 16G turbo should i get. I have 1 Grand.. Was planning on spending it on Turbo , Injectors and taking it to TGP tuning for them to tune it up for me.. need some help thanks

You need a widband for yourself, so you know whats going on with your car and tuning device for you. How are you going to monitor whats goiing on with the car when there not around.

Well if you want to take your car to tpg tuning and get it tuned make sure you have all your stuff together and your engine isn't dodo. Nate hates working on dsm's because we are cheap. Don't bring him any eBay parts. Do yourself a favor and just search around on the forum. You can't beat a evo3 16g if you want to keep stock like appearace and drivablity. I have some 865cc injectors forsale which would be plenty for you.(pm me if interested) I could go up to the shop and see if Nate has a stock evo fuel pump laying around. Wideband is good but you don't need it. If you ever need any help I'm pretty local so just shoot me a pm and Im sure I can help ya out.

Edit: Forgot about tuning device.. Dsmlink lite is fine.

If you're going to have someone else do your tuning you don't need link, you can get away with EvoScan to log, and 660/750 injectors will do just fine for a 16g on 93 octane. You do still need a wideband and boost gauge.

Quick upgrade suggestions (after maintance if it isn't done) is Evo III 16g, set of good used injectors (650's) pocketlogger obd II system and a safc. Do some reading and you won't have to take it to get tuned....or make friends with an old skool dsmr that can show you the ropes. You'll have a blast with this setup!!!

if you are thinking about any upgrade path then you should start with buying an eprom ecu, then dsmlink.

that is your foundation for any upgrade path, as you are extremely limited without it.

then you can get an EVO3-16G and bigger injectors.

AFtermarket boost gauge? You want to turn the boosts up, get the tools (gauges) so YOU can monitor whats going on. Exactly take it to be tuned or do it yourself, lots of options out there for you.

Journal bearing PTE 5557e w/Internal Wastegate, some used 800+cc Injectors, and V3 Lite. A little over a grand but it'd be more of a usable setup when you discover a 16G won't cut it for the butt dyno. Or get 1050's and run E85 on a
16G.

Everyone recommending link is completely ignoring the fact that you're having someone else tune it and you have a 98, so you may have a flashable ECU. The tuning shop probably has the cable, so just spend $50 on EvoScan and a 1.3 cable to log and you're golden, rather than spending $500+ on an EPROM ECU and DSMLink. Don't buy an SAFC. Most professional tuning shops hate them and will recommend against them.

Already have a ecu eprom great, ecmlite 375, ill have it soon but not paying that for it. Get the eprom first, buy lite later, upgrade later, and keep on upgrading as they are always improving it. Free or not i know my route.

That's cool, but this thread's for TaylorGang's route, not yours.

OMFG n00bness!! Jesus Christ forgive me for being angry.

Ok guy. Buy DSMlink before you go buying a bunch of useless crap that you cant use if you dont have it. Good lord.

id shoot for an AFPR with a gauge, maybe some 780cc injectors, def. need a wideband, and way to tune..you could probably get decent streetable numbers with an SAFC. i know a lot of people dont like them and apparently "tuners" dont like that...but you can make it work. like someone else said, find an old school DSMer and become friends with them. i'd always try tuning a car myself. i wouldn't want to keep taking my car in for any small tuning problem and dish out money each time i take it in. just do lots of reading and research and do it yourself. unless you're building a "dyno queen", dont pay money to have it tuned.

I'm in the same boat as the OP gonna plan to have a tune this summer. I have a 99 GSX and read that 98-99 may/have a flashable ecu and you wont need dsmlink. You can, but have to do a little rewiring but don't really serve any purpose since flashing is pretty much capable/have the features of link.

Like Absit said why would the OP or anyone else pay $500+ for another ecu with link when he/they can just purchase needed items to reflash the ecu for $50+ or have a shop flash it since they will probably have the equipment for it. Like me and most of car enthusiast I have no clue on how to go about tuning tried to learn but just can't really understand it so I rather just let the pros handle the tuning and not even touch the ecu.

Why would you want to buy link when you have a flashable ecu? Pros and cons of flashing an ecu? For use DD tuners and weekend worrior with a flashable ecu what would be more beneficial to us to have as a management dsmlink or just a ecu flash? Knowing that we will never ever touch any features, programs, tune saved on the ecu.

This sums it up along with everyone else suggesting using ceddy mods. There's zero point in buying ecmlink plus and eprom when he can spend $50 on a used 2.0 cable and $25 on evoscan and have a program that's on par with dsmlink.

I personally would say ecuflash is better than link, but I don't do much playing with ceddy mods. I use it for my 3g and friends evo's, but I think that the support ecuflash is much better than link.
