I have been reading up on this website about opinions on what turbo i should upgrade to. I really am interested in the evo III Big 16g. I am curious if that is direct bolt on to the stock turbo for a 99 gsx, or if there are any types of mods that i have to do. Please give me your opinions and details. Thanks

as far as the flange goes, it is a mitsu. flange so it will bolt up directly, however you will need a 2g install kit which basically consists of another j-pipe and some necessary hardware to install it correctly. remember also... i dont know what your mod list is looking like but you cant just slap on a big turbo and go balls to the wall. your going to want to look into the supporting mods.. free flowing exhaust, enough fuel, and something to control everything(S-AFC). hope this helps

I have a rre downpipe and high flow cat and 3" apexi exhaust coming in. I will be upgrading the turbo mani(maybe) depends on if i have to, and also upp'ing the o2 housing, and sooner or later getting a fmic.

You can slap on a EVO III 16g without any supporting mods, it's when you turn up the boost that you need to start adding fuel, but stock boost levels you will have no problems.

You still need to modify your water lines and get a new oil lines & a j-pipe.

Yea, you can swap the turbo, but you will want to make sure that you do other things fuel injectors & pump, fuel management/logger (DSMlink or an SAFC with a logger program), the proper guages to watch what you're doing, such as a wideband/EGT. Intercooler, either side mount or Front mount. Exhaust, you don't need to port the manifold, but some people do to get quicker spooling.
