Just got this car and it may have belonged to a friend of mine years back. His was a n/t converted to turbo. It has turbo and many other mods now but I looked on the VFAQ decoder and didn't see a V there for eighth digit codes... only place I saw a V was for country code... I know it wasn't made in France... any ideas?

Does it have a 4g63 or a 420A. Easiest way to tell.

Unless he's talking about some other car, he has a 94. The question should really be if he has a 1.8. I doubt it.

OP, are you positive it's a V and not a U. U denotes a turbo trim although it was only used up through 92. The dash could have been swapped. What does the title say?

Come on guys do you REALLY Think I cant tell if there is a turbo on my exhaust manifold? I was wondering if the chassis was turbo or not. Lol. Got it cleared up. The vin plate had a TON of crap buildup and I mistook the U for a V.Sorry for the confusion. It is indeed a factory gs-t.

It's completely possible to have an N/T block/head and have a turbo....it's the same engine outwardly. If you couldn't decipher the vin, the only clue you'd have is wether or not the block was a turbo block. Oil squirters, or lack there of, is practically a definite sign of what you would have had.

Glad you got it figured out. I was under the impression that "U" wasn't used after 92 ( I believe U was to designate 6 bolts...could be wrong) Either way, you have a genuine GS-T. Happy boosting.

Sounded like you were asking if it was an NA block with a turbo on it, that would not be the same as a turbo block. Fyi. Next time clarify your trying to find out the chassis, even though it wouldnt matter

A 1g NA chassis would hold any 4g63 from a dsm so it wouldnt matter what the chassis is unless you were hoping for awd.

Thanks but I already know that :rolleyes:I misread the vin so I was wondering if anybody had heard of that vin code but i was mistaken. I never referenced the block I said it may be a nt car converted to boost so I thought it was clear that I was referring to the chassis. Thanks anyways.

Sounds like you do your research! Welcome to the DSM world, we welcome people like you with open arms!
