Im getting ready to start my 4G63 and auto to 5speed build

When I finally have enough posts ill put this in the build section

This all started about a year ago when my brother bought a 88 TSI with a blown head gasket for $700. He bought it (not knowing anything about these cars) thinking it would be a quick fix. The plus side to the purchase was that the body of the car( except the faded clear coat and the paint coming off of the wing LOL) and interior were in MINT CONDITION! There is not a speck of rust anywhere and the interior is all original and looks like it just came off of the show room.

Well after he Failed miserably, I helped him replace the whole engine. The car runs fine, I drove it all weekend in fact!

Well on day my brother couldn't get it running and got sick of is just sitting so he GAVE it to me for FREE! After about 30 minutes of working on it I found out he had 2 spark plug wires crossed and since then it has ran great. He finally asked me how the car was going so i did the noble thing and told him the engine was shot! LOL ( I didn't want him taking it back!LOL)

Well here it is, I picked up the 4G63 motor for a great price. All i have to do now is get the Tranny. Im going to go with just a D50 trans for now, because My buddy has a D50 just sitting in his back yard so I'm getting it for next to nothing. The starquest is also a Auto so I'm going to take the challenge of turning it into a 5 speed.

Well Wish me luck! THE BUILD BEGINS!

My dads buddy worked at a chrysler dealership when 1g's and the conquest came out....he said they were both very fun cars to drive but stock for stock the conquest was way faster (I'm sure he was talking about top end LOL) any ways he said that he had it goin almost 160Mph

great luck on the build and I love to see a build thread....beautiful clean car

yeah, but the only problem with the conquest 2.6 is that its throttle body injected and the internals are cast not forged. so when it comes to modding they are not very friendly. they cant handle any boost like the DOHC 4G

damn that starquest is clean... nice find... and good luck with the swap....

Actually No one uses Gm trannys LOL they all use the 2 supra trannys.

well The conquest is a wide block and a 4g63 is a narrow block. so the stock starquest tranny wont bolt up. The only tranny that bolts right up is the tranny out of a D50 or Mighty Max. the only problem is they cant handle tons of power. so there is a guy who makes special bell housings for the 2 supra trannys. thats proboly the best route. The same guy is also working on making a Bell housing for the famous T5 tranny. So right now im using a D50 tranny(because i have one just laying around) and when the T5 bell houseing is done ill switch to that! its going to be fun!

Great find :hellyeah:
I love how that motor had so much torque, turbo, RWD and you can fit some nice meaty tires on the rear

My bro-in-law had a white conquest tsi he did an auto to 5 speed stock as well,so ill ask how hard it was but good call on the 4g63 swap and keeping it a DSM :thumb:. The stock ones are expensive to convert to MPI. There was a guy i met before that had a 2jz swap in it and that was a beast... A good exterior mod BTW is removing that tint rear tail light cover that the lights have on the rear, makes it stand it a bit more and looks cleaner.

4g63 internals are all cast as well. But yes, the 4g63 does see m to take a beating better.

2.6 L G54B engine. with TD05-12A Mitsubishi turbocharger

I dont know the HP/TQ numbers. They were offered as a Chrysler Conquest TSI model or Mistubish ESIR due to that joint venture. The body lines on these cars are just sex....just hate that they did not come with DOHC or MPI already....only 2 injectors :( but all in all its a REALLY fun car to drive and hey you can even drift and do donuts :hellyeah: I want one now.....

Sweet, I have always wanted to do a 2.4l wideblock in a starion....seems like a good time. Just not light enough for me though :/ oh well, good luck with the build!

Well you should tell this nobody featured in Turbo and Hi-Tech performance because he is using a GM TH400 tansmission.

And here is Buschur's RWD 4G63 Conquest (which ran a best of 8.61 @ 158 MPH) with a GM powerglide transmission. He's a nobody for sure. :sneaky:

Here is the Bushur Racing adapter to use a GM transmission on a 4G63.

There are several different transmissions options with RWD 4G63's. The GM powerglide is just one. Here is a great article on transmission options for a RWD 4G63 swap: :: Project Zero G :: - Transmissions.

Good luck on your build. Hope this helps!

I know a guy tha has the stock engine in his and he beefed itu p . IT is quick as can be I think if I remember they came out of the factory with like 280 hp at stock psi . I loved this car I only got to drive one .. wish I had bought it now

thanks man everything is going great, and i wasnt being litteral about the GM tranny! Congrats on finding the only 2 people that did 4g63 builds and used GM trannys LOL. The thing is now with the adaptor plates for supra trannys, NO ONE uses a GM anymore, its kind of old news, you Feel me LOL. and project zero g is an amazing site. i love it!

haha I wish they had that much HP. It depends on what model they are. It could have anywhere from 150 to 197 horsepower depending on whether it is intercooled and has the 8 valve or 12 valve head. My TSI had 197. btw this car handles AMAZING! love drifting corners! LOL
