2G 7bolt oil pan gasket

Ok this has been talked over and over. On 6 and 7 bolt no gasket was ever used on oil pan. Just RTV. But when i checked at the store they make a 7bolt cork gasket. So did Mitsubishi use a cork gasket on 7bolt or just RTV? Im just getting people telling me use cork gasket no RTV and others saying use cork. I just want to know what Mitsubishi used out of factory.

Well that's what they used from the factory with a brand new pan... I use a gasket with RTV on used pans.

As long as the sealing surface is clean and flat, rtv should be all that is needed.

It is rtv, jnz sell the cork gasket and im currently using it and its fine. Zero leaks. Been on a few years now. I will use another cork aswell when i modify my pan, cork works well

I bought a gasket kit that came with an oil pan gasket, so I used it. No leaks. However, these engines did roll off the assembly line without a gasket. Any RTV should do fine (I think I used black on another car, and it didn't leak), and I think the permatex ultra grey is very similar to the factory sealant.

I stopped reusing oil pans a couple years ago. It's not worth it. I've never had a new pan, and clean pan rails leak with a good bead of the right stuff.

It's almost impossible to not warp, and bend the sealing surface of the pan removing one.

Well a gasket will stop you from having to bend them all the time. And im not going to replace a pan ive modified for more oil everytime so i will stick with my gasket as its fine. Everyone else will be fine aswell if there carefull with getting it off and not over tighten the bolt when using the cork gasket!
