6G75 swap into a 1998 GSX?

Just wondering if that swap is doable? I'm in Ohio, so AWD is awesome, but I have a preference for V6s instead of V4s. If you know of someone that has done this, or just of an estimate cost that would be great as well. Thanks :)

Let me get this straight. So, you don't even understand what an inline 4 cylinder is, yet you "prefer" V6's. And you want to "swap" in a 3si motor? Yes, it's possible and been done; however, I can't foresee someone who think we have V4's pulling it off.
 
Its been done once or twice. I dont understand why though. The 4g63 is much easier to mod, and work on. The 4g63 can put you in the 9s.

The 6g72 is big and heavy and you have to shoe horn that bi*** into a 3S engine bay to begin with.
 
The I4 4g63 has one of the highest specific outputs of any engine ever made. AMS made 1130 awhp with the 4g63... yes, with enough money you could swap virtually any engine into your car, but why?

I agree with you the 4g63 is a good engine. However maybe he wants to swap it in because he likes that engine or he wants to be unique. The why is up to him. Don't criticize his why :)
 
just so everyone is clear, 6g75 is a 3.8L V6.

a guy is currently doing this to an avenger (same engine bay as the 2g eclipse). it CAN be done, but it is really more work than it's worth (if you ask me).

and he started with a 6g73. starting with either a 420a or a 4g63 would be pure hell i bet. you need several 1-off custom parts, such as an intermediate shaft if i remember correctly. then if you have a gsx, you would have to swap out a n/t rear suspension for your back end.

if you really really really must do this, then check out this guy's project log on the avenger forums:
Avenger 3.8L SWAP - ASEClub

it may help you get an idea of how hard this will be.

To be rational no one in their right mind would want that behind the front two wheels it'll become the worst handling car in the world... 3s have the tire well capacity to deal with such anchors.

I don't support hey ''lookieMEEE'' swaps.
 
The only way I could support this in anyway would be if you could overcome the issue involved with swapping in the full powertrain from a VR-4. Even then I would still rather have a 4g63 attached to the getrag. IMO if you want a 6g72 go get a 3kgt or a 4g eclipse GT.

I always get customers asking for parts for their V4 honda civic and V4 toyota colloras!!! theres plenty of people with V4's!!! you just don't know it until they tell you themselves LOL :thumb: ROFLROFLROFLROFL

If by doable you mean you just put in the engine and and hook it up to the stock mounts, then no. If you had some shop do it, it would probably cost at least $4000. If you put $4000 into a 4g63 you would be leaps and bounds ahead of where you would be with a 6g75 swap.

Also, I know this has been said, but no one has explained. The 4g63 is an i4(inline 4) not a v4. Follow this link to gain some understanding:

Apparently everyone is supposed to know everything about cars and engines from the time they were born.

Anyone can swap any car part from any other car over, but once it's an engine people go ape-shit and a flame war starts on the OP. Where would the automotive industry be if there were constraints from day one saying "this is all you can do." Custom is creative, and I don't care if it is "ricey" wings and decals and body kits or a v6 engine swap or a jet engine swap. Tastes are different person to person, and the only comments that should be made are ones that are pointing him in others that have done it. I often say v4 in talk if I am talking about v6s first. It's an honest mixup. Way to welcome someone new.
