Hi guys I need help, I bought a 6bolt short block for my 2g Eclipse and running into problems. What needs changed in order to do this.

So far I'm having problems with the oil pump case 2g and 1g are different, there isn't a spot for the crank sensor on the 6bolt oil case, the 7bolt oil case some bolt holes don't line up. What I wanna do is use a 6bolt block with a 2g head on my 2g Eclipse, if someone can tell me what else needs done or changed I would appreciate it.

You will have to make the holes in the head where the bolts go through to connect the block and head together.there is also a web site that sells a harness so you can convert from 7 bolt to 6 bolt cas....

No the crank sensor itself is not needed with the above posted harness. This has been beaten to death SOO many times. Please Search!!!! Just google "dsm 6 bolt swap" i guarantee you there will be a million results.!

Why not just go with a 6 bolt front cover and 1g CAS? It will make the swap much easier. No need of porting the 7 bolt cover (oil passages) or drilling new holes to line it up.

Just to be nice and answer the question, I used a 6 bolt block with 2G front case and head, my front case and 6 bolt block needing machining for them to match up, and my 7 bolt head needed the head bolts bored out 1mm. also you need to trim the motor mount and use a countersunk bolt on the waterpump, then it should run just like your stock 7 bolt just with the 6bolt short block, no CEL or anything.
but seriously it's on the RRE page and that Magnus one previously posted is way better.

+1 on the serach google magnus motorsports and RRE have a very detailed explanation of how things should go down , and If you keep the 2g head you shoudnt have any wiring problems
