How do I tell if I have a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt?
Will x part from a 6 bolt fit a 7 bolt?
Will x part from a 7 bolt fit a 6 bolt?
Which one is better?
How do I swap my x bolt for an x bolt?

What is the difference between 6-bolt and 7-bolt engines (aside from the obvious - 6 vs. 7 bolts connecting the flywheel :p )

Is there an advantage over either of the two engines?

Thanks,

-Mike

Heres a pic of it, what should i pay it, i know it looks shitty, but i just need the block, so it doesnt matter how bad it is right?

It was inspected 2005. I jacked the car up today, didnt look to good, whats the thing out of the tranny. Now i tried to feel above the oilpan but couldnt tell, so i took a bunch of pic, but the car is a 91 but made in dec of 90, so how can it be a 7 bolt?

So i guess i should offer what now,100 bucks,LOL, i could still use the block though, i mean i am getting different pistons and rods. So i guess i would have to take it to a machine shop,so think its still worth it, or look else where??

Hye guys, I have a 1993 Talon with a newly swapped 6 bolt engine. I just want to ask you if I can use my old Ecu to run my new 6 bolt. It is a 1g with an original 7 bolt. Will this work? Thanks
John

1G ecu in a 1G car. Your ok with using it. There's no differences as in CAS and firing order. The only difference is flywheel bolts.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks so Much!!! It will be on the Road at the end of this week then!!! I am only 18 and I am going to have a 330 WHP talon, and I have done it all myself, and properly. Thanks a bunch guys for all the other questions answered too. Much appreciated.

Hello, I have probably a pretty simple question for you guys.

I have a 93 Talon, N/T. It came with a 7 bolt, that motor went bad, so i ordered a 6 Bolt (On accident) so now im stuck with the 6 bolt. My question to you is; What do i need to change out in order for the 6 bolt to work? Do I just get a 6 Bolt N/T Manual Trans Flywheel? Or is there more to change then just that? Me and my brother are stumped.

Probably a stupid question, but hey.:talon:

Ordering a 6 bolt motor is more like a positive thing than an accident. Who did you order the motor from? As far as I know, most of your stock parts from the 1g motor will swap over.

However, the oil pan needs to be a 6 bolt. I am not too sure about the starter and flywheel.
I would say that they are the same but, then again not 100% positive.

Definately need a 6 bolt flywheel. 6 bolt oil pan is right. You will need a 6 bolt oil filter housing and a 6 bolt oil pick-up also. I'm 99% sure you can use the same starter. Don't know much about N/A's thoughs, thankfully =).

When you say you bought a 6 bolt motor is it a Long block or a short block? Did it come with the head, intake? Depending on what you have will depend on what you need. If you are reusing the head then most of your 7bolt stuff will fit great.

so, The 6 Bolt Flywheel, The 6 Bolt Oil Pan, and the 6 Bolt oil Filter Housing.

Is this all, or can you think of more?

I have just been told by a guy whose been racing DSM's for 8 years that the only thing i need is the flywheel....

One thing you need to remember is that the oil pan for the 6 bolt motor is flat all the way around but, the 7 bolt pan has a dip in it.

I think those 3 things are all you need to change.

Sorry to go off topic here, but was it the 94 that had the 420a or whatever in the N/Ts? I know some of the 2gb N/Ts had a different motor then a 7bolt.

Just wondering, cause I'd really like a 1gb. :)
