i realize this is a noob question but i bought a 2g eclipse that didnt run (my mistake) thinking it would be a easy fix but i found out the previous owner threw a rod and killed it but

what i have is a 2g eclipse gs-t and my short block is dead (there is a hole the size of a quarter in the side), i found great deal on a short block but its a 6 bolt 1g from a 91 talon. could i swap them out without too much mods and could i put the 2g head on the 1g short block

thanks steve

Sounds like you have a chance to do a good rebuild and make it stronger. It will bolt up but the exact requirements are beyond me (I still have my 7bolt). I suggest you do the..... 1gina2g .......(just like I spelled it) search and read up.

As for the 2g head, it flows less than the 1g, but it will work. Just don't try and match a 1g intake manifold with the 2g head. You will loose power.:thumb:
