So i have a intermitent problem with my transmission. A couple a days ago i was on the way to work, pulled up to a corvette.... gotta love it when a tranny question starts with that! :D So i go through the gears and when i get to 5th i don't have one or a reverse. So i go on to work going down the i-25 in 4th gear LOL, got off work hopped in and went 1st -4th for a while, just messing with it and finally got working again by shoving the crap out of it. This has happened before when i first got my motor stabbed Anyways just wondering if anybody has any experience with this i saw a couple 2g threads about this but did'nt know if the tranny was the same or not. Could this just be a synchro thing or shift linkage? So any help is apreciated Thanks in advance.

I would check the obvious things like making sure your cables are not getting stuck somehow, or the bracket on the transmission is not lose, shifter bushings, etc. But honestly, sounds like a fork issue. If the fork for 5th- Reverse is slightly bent or the pin is breaking or already broke, it'll give you intermittent issues until it completely fails.

I speak from experience with shift forks, never with 5th or Reverse, but seen it happen with 3rd and 4th.
