Ok so i did a little research and couldnt find anyone who had the same problem as me so im posting this up-when you shift into 5th gear normal it has the infamous dsm grind, but if you double clutch it it goes in smooth -no issues at all. I tried the 5th gear fix -took off the cover and the bolt and everything was tight, and 2 local tranny shops told me the same thing- they doubted the synchro was bad because it shifted fine when you double clutch it-they both drove it also. - So does anyone have any ideas?

Dragging clutch, or bad synchronizer ring. Double clutching should have shown them it was the synchronizer ring. Normally, the clutch disengauges the gearbox from the engine and the synchro brakes the gears and shafts to spin at the same speed as if the gear was engauged. Double clutching is operator synchronization of the gears, and doesn't rely on the synchros to synchronize the gears. A 5th gear synchro is like $20, i'd just replace it before you wear the gear engaugement teeth, and the sleeve.

Ok so im not a tranny person but your saying 5th synchro is bad- can it be changed while the trans is still in the car? ive heard that
