57 (late) vs 58 (early) 2G tranny. ID?

I have Jack's trans in my car. How can I tell if it's the 57 (late) vs 58 (early) 2G tranny without pulling it off the car? Is there an ID number I can use to verify? If not, any visual differences?

Is it manual or auto? Mines early 95 i can get you numbers off it. Also have a 97 auto so let me know. I did my research for mine after i bew it.
