Early vs Late 97 how to tell

I spun a bearing on #2 rod and i need to know how to tell what type of main bearings it has its a 97 gst not sure if late or early how do i tell if its thrust or flanged

You have to look at the actual bearings themselves. Center main bearing will either be one piece (actually two one piece top and bottom bearings), or will have separate crescent shaped flange thrust bearings. Each top or bottom bearing is then three piece.

Or you can run your car's VIN or engine's VIN (if swapped) to find out for sure which bearing it's supposed to have.

If your not sure then when you get it taken apart post a photo and well let you know. But it should be pretty clear when you look at the center bearing.

Thanks each side is one piece so its flanged not thrust correct?
