fixed. ;)

yeah everytime i talked to karl my car wasnt ready. i think its Finally ok to go see him soon. hes a real
chill guy too. glad you chose him. I wanted to at least know the car was tuneable first before I wasted his time LOL.

doing better, i get intermittant knock around 5k. i have a few other things to check. i am at 15deg timing tho. before it was no higher than 9 and knock happy much more.

def swap plugs asap tho im happy with them.

IMO there is way too much emphasis on how much timing one should or shouldn’t run. Way to many variables to take into account.

You can’t assume everyone’s car is degreed in exactly the same as the next. Who is to say both cars initial timing is set perfectly in the first place? Straight out of the factory I’ve seen cars with crank angle sensors 4-5* off what they should be. Either due to the reluctor rings not pressed on exactly the same, crank keys being slightly off, crank pulley machining Irregularities or due to some tolerance they have in the sensors. (or many combined I'm sure) Take that, and then add to it the inability of many to set their timing perfectly to start with and you can have a variation of 10* or more very easily. Not to mention each engine setup will be different than the next, different fuel mixtures, temp, humidity….. it goes on and on.

Hearing someone claim they can run 22* timing at 25lbs and another complain they only can run 18* without knock is a pointless concern. There is no need to shoot for a specific timing number. Give the motor what it wants to stay out of detonation and don’t worry about the total timing number.

Just beacuse you datalog 25* of timing doesn't mean your true absolute timing is 25*.

Force fed makes a good point which is why mine was tuned at 11 degrees of peak timng as i found out yesterday. The engine wanted that much and no more. I will be replacing my knock sensor in the very near future probally next week.

A Nat farted on the knock sensor while running 14* timing better pull it back to 10*... . That always makes it better... .

As Forcefed said there are WAY too many factors involved to say you should or shouldn't be able to run X amount of timing with x amount of boost... . Comparing to someone elses setup and what they run to what your do will never get anyone very far. At least with out being 1000% sure about every aspect of what is going on...

yes I agree on all of that. every engine is like a person...different. gotta find that groove.

I did recently check the KS and its clean, dry, and the wiring is great. its got 167K on it...could be time to just swap it b/c of mileage alone. When I did my A/C delete I was able to get back there and isolate the wiring for it and minimize interference.

easier to replace with no AC also, i can fit my hand right in there with a small gear or crescent wrench
