I have a 4g63t but my motors gone. Can I put my Turbo and head on a 4g63 n/a??
Thanks in advanced for any feedback.

you can.. but good chance it will not last long, due to the diffrent piston design between the Turbo and the NA....

Oops, I completely missed the part about installing a turbo on a N/A 4G block. The pistons have a thinner (weaker) top land and won't handle too much boost before failure. You can physically put it all together if you need something to get you by, but I'd recommend that you run really low boost and make sure your tune is in check (IE: not lean).

Can I just use the pistons from my 4g63t ?

Sure. The block and rods are otherwise the same.

What happened to the original shortblock?

I was told ( as you can tell my car knowledge isn't Cary good ) that my balance shaft seize it something of the sort. And my friend just happen to have a 4g63 with granny that he's giving me for $450.
In your opinion do you think its worth it? What would you do? If you don't mind me asking.

I have been running a NT motor (with NT head) with all the turbo parts in my 92 TSi AWD since August of 2009 and over 14,000 miles without any issues at all. Keep the boost at stock levels and just drive it.

As for the tranny, you will not need it, plus it will not hold up to the turbo.

Why not just save the $450 and do a BSE and forget about the balance shafts?
