4g63 to lexus sc300 swap

Honestly, if you have the time and MONEY to swap a 4g63 over to a RWD car it shouldn't be too hard to get the car running, especially if you already have a running 4g63. Just research anything you plan on doing BEFORE you do it, it'll save you a ton of time/headaches. My mistake was starting with a 280z and a short block and head... Im still looking for all the nickel and dime stuff! If you have the running 4g63, you could have it running within a month.

P.S. like stated above, id start with a lighter platform as well.
 
Yea i aint experienced am still learning that's why am asking the group so I could get feed back on what's best but curt kinda did have a point.I should just try the DMV and vin thing and see how it goes,yea I keep you you guys posted on what am a do hopefully get that back on tha streets
 
I don't want to dissuade you entirely from all attempts at any vehicle work, but you did make it sound like you were very inexperienced in these things and may not be appreciating the sheer amount of work involved in doing it correctly.
(Please don't use that infamous "building a rwd talon with a mustang 2 subframe" thread here as an indication for any sort of skill from a complete amateur)

I'm simply suggesting you get the current body up and running, if possible. That will net you a TON of experience and probably even be a little humbling. Then start doing extra bits here and there, maybe even fabricate a simple turboback exhaust. Don't try a manifold if you have no experience there either.. not yet, at least.

Baby steps. Engine swaps involving fab work are big deals and safety must be observed at all times. It's easy to be pie-eyed from the start and then when it gets a little tough, you lose hope and drive and say "screw it" to the entire thing and consider the attempt a failure. Start out small and work your way up. Good luck!
 
It'd be one hell of a challenge.

If you do go through with the swap, you'd be probably one of the only guys to have done a 4g63 swap on a SC300.

So if you enjoy challenging things & having bragging rights, go for it!

As other people mentioned, might be a little slow considering that car is heavy, so I'd spray a 35 shot of nitrous to get you going. :hellyeah:
 
Yea thanks Curt, and yea I just seen a guy from my city swap a 4g into a Monte Carlo and I thought that sounded slow but its still on its way getting built.its on YouTube check it out the only swap their is,but honestly if I could get the 1g back going it will be like a basis for me since this going to be my first car,
 
I say GO FOR IT!!!

The 1st Gen Lexus SC with the 1JZ weighted - 3,505lbs w/ an auto trans

The 1JZ alone weights ~ 505lbs according to SupraForums

And the auto trans is somewhere around 200-250lbs

Which means the car will start out at around 2,800lbs +/-, plus you can always delete some of the luxury amenities inside to shave weight, i.e. back seat, AC, emissions, etc...

A DSM at its heaviest was the 2G AWD weighting in at 3,201lbs, the 4G63 fully dressed is ~ 300lbs give or take, and the AWD system combined is probably close to 250lbs. Grand total is about 2,700lbs +/-.

Your starting weight should be pretty similar and with less parasitic power loss since you'll only be powering 2 wheels.

The first thing to do would be find out what the height of the 1JZ is compared to a 4G63, then determine where the motor mounts are in comparison to each motor. Lastly, do you have enough scratch and know ho to do this project. As long as you have a good shell that just needs a motor and trans, and you just so happen to have a god running motor with an ecu, you should be in good shape if you have experience and determination. It will be a challenge... I have done an awd conversion on a 7th Gen galant and am in the process of an rwd rx7 fc.... The FC is already alot more difficult the the conversion. If the 4g63 fits the sc300 with the front sump oil pan then I say go for it. If not then I would consider a clean 2g instead. Unless you have someone who can re weld or modify you oil pan to fit.. Sounds simple but in my area, people charged way too much.
 
Yea thanks for the homework on the weight GPlaserRs,And yea the talon engine of mine is in great condition, I really now wants try getting a title replacement back on it,but yea Phizzalot it will be a challenge and that rx7 fc awd sounds dope mane i gotta rx7 1g at my work but like I said I don't have much experience with swaps,gunna try the mvd soon and see if I could get that tsi back.friends were telling me getting a title replacement is gunna be a bitxh
 
im sure you know this already, but a 2 door 93-95 colt/summit/mirage weigh 2100 lbs with the 4g63t swap. its a very easy swap. the best possible use of that talon imo.
