So a few days ago, I got up on the gas and my car started stumbling around 15psi. This is after running like a champ @ 20PSI for a few months (since my last tune and Innovate WB installation). It felt like a misfire, and knowing how the 4G63 can go through plugs when running high boost, I figured that maybe it was time.

Plugs 1,2, and 4 looked fine. Plug 3 was a hot mess (see photos).

Well I tossed new plugs in (BPR7ES gapped to .028) and it felt fine, albeit a bit doggish. Then I took it on a long drive today...

I drove around for about 2 hours before noticing the same issue I had yesterday. First, the car isn't running as well as it did a few days ago. Just not pulling the same and it sounded a little funny (exhaust note). A/F looks good and I'm not seeing knock, but it just doesn't have the same get up and go. Well I was driving up a hill and went to pass a Camry. Hit the gas in 4th and as I hit 10psi, the car started to stumble again. i backed off and headed right on home. The car holds idle just fine, and when it's running, it seems to be running agreeably. Still, a little sluggish all-around, and acting like a punk when I put load on it.

One other thing happened of note... For the first time since I got a new dipstick about 6 months ago, the stick blew out and sprayed oil under my hood. Now I didn't come close to the 20PSI I was running just a few days ago fine before this problem cropped up. So now I'm wondering if I've lost compression in cyl. #3 (where the ugly plug came from) and now I'm getting blow-by and consequently, more pressure in the sump. I'm no expert in these things, so I don't know if blow-by could have also hosed the plug, but it seems possible.

At this point I think I'm going to have the head pulled, check the pistons and sleeves, check the head gasket, and have the #3 plug threads repaired as they were pretty munched up by the last owner.

Oh, and once last observation. My walbro 255 was noisy as hell while idling in my driveway when I got home. I don't know if it's normally that noisy, or if I'm just hyper-sensitive to this stuff right now, but it seemed loud.

Thoughts?

White indicates it's burning anti freeze, do a compression test.

If you got the money their is a kit you can wait for bubbles to pop from the anti freeze when running with the radiator cap off and try sucking that air in the tube and if the dye turns yellow it indicates a head gasket leak too.

But I definitely think you got a head gasket leak and i'd say your burning hot.

That's where I'm leaning as well. of course, I would love more feedback from anyone else that would like to chime in. That being said, with the #3 spark plug hole stripping out, and w/ 85k on my current timing belt, I figure it's time to pull the head anyway and get some work done.

Additionally, do my STFT's look odd? Seems weird that I've got double-digit values. Seems anecdotally connected to a 0.02v front O2 sensor reading....

Those deposits on the plug look like that cylinder is burning oil. Do a compression check. If you arent having any symptoms of blown head gasket (IE: blowing coolant out of overflow, smoke out of exhaust, loss of coolant, etc) I would say you dont have a head gasket problem. Coolant will not leave deposits like that on the plug.
Compression test and bring us back some results.
