I'm trying to get as much information about the 4G63 as possible. What year and in what car did it first appear, how much and how it has changed since then, any specs that you can give would be great. Also, I'm thinking about building up one of these engines for use in an evo VIII, is purchasing a 2nd gen eclipse/talon 4G63 a good idea for this project or have there been lots of changes that would make buying a newer engine necessary. Please let me know about the engine compatibilities between eclipses and evo's

Id say for starters since the Evo8 engine is "flipped" around it wont fit. Also Ive been told there are almost no parts that can be swapped from the two. I could be wrong and with the right amount of money anything is possible

Supposedly it's been done (EVO VIII 2G), but the evo engine that most people are referring to is the EVO III engine. It's a seven bolt (not sure if they crankwalk) and is almost the same exact engine except a few differences which is why the EVO III made so much more power. For instance, the EVO III has better flowing manifolds (not cyclone though), bigger injectors, a way better flowing head, better camshafts, and of course the awesome EVO III 16G turbo. The EVO III is distiguishable by it's yellow top injectors and titanium colored valvecover. There are many people on this board that have done it if you need reference.

Anyone have a link to that EVO VIII in a 2G though, I've never seen it, but there are references to it every time a newb brings this up.
