Did anyone else have an epileptic seizure while watching the middle portion of that video? Anyway, pretty cool vid.

Christ, I wonder what the stem/guide clearance is in that Honda. That stem sure is waving around to beat the band.
I'm also a bit skeptical -imagine that- of their claim that the trouble is insufficient valve spring pressure for the valve bounce. I'd also look into the parameters of the deceleration ramp on that grind.
And again, other than for flat-effing-out racing, the returns of extreme RPM numbers diminish rapidly and markedly.

What the hell is going on inside an F1 engine at 19K?

Turns out the pistons aren't suffering quite so much as you'd initially think. They go through a cycle of acceleration and deceleration that's buffered at each extreme by the angularities involved that is peculiar to a crank/connecting rod arrangement. As the piston is getting to the top and bottom of the stroke, the crank is more throwing the bottom end to the sides than up and down. There's trigonometry about it. but don't look at me for that part.

F1 engines don’t have that problem; they use compressed air to close the valves.
Pneumatic valve springs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While pneumatic valve springs have become standard in Formula 1 engines, Renault has been researching computer controlled electro hydraulic valves using no camshaft, to reduce moving parts while improving valve control.

My stroker doesn’t have that problem either; it makes enough torque for this olde timer at 7000 RPM.

I believe I found my answer. I picked up one of the Evo brochures way back in '03 so I pulled it out. The brochure is litterally like a big newspaper. Anyways, here's a quote regarding the valves:

Hollow Exhaust Valve

A unique natrium-filled cavity dissipates heat, minimizing changes in valve bell shape, keeping the cylinder head seal tight under extreme temperatures. Your neighbor doesn't have that.

ok so i bought a race head that came with dual ferrea valve springs and retainers. i know they are really good but i was wondering if bee mad (bee hive) springs would be any better from ffwd? im putting them on a destroker so high revving is the name of my game

I was wondering the same exact question. Some time ago I emailed ffwd about it and was told that beemads were superior than dual springs. I have a set of beemads that are sitting there in my garage waiting to be installed. I'm just collecting parts and will install everything at once. I don't have any experience with either or. So if someone that has any experience and would like to share it, please do so.

Well after looking around and shopping for a set of valve springs, I had a few people tell me about the Kiggly High Pressure Beehive Spring Set. Well because Im working on my drag car during winter, I went ahead and got me a set after all the good feed back I been told.

Well I got them in last week, sent them to the machine shop and not only Im a happy with the set but machine shop told me its the best springs out there for the 4g63 and Ill be happy with it.

Thanks for Kiggly for the springs and if anyone is looking for a set, check them out

They come with everything you need

Anyone else using them? any feed back?

Honestly I've heard more good about GSC than Kiggly.

I've spoken with Kiggly a few times regarding automatic transmission stuff and he's a really nice guy.

If only he would have been able to help me with my automatic tranny build up... Instead I guess I'll go with Jacks, or Shep for a manual.

i'd like to see one of those videos while a 7-bolt is crankwalking so we can see exactly how it happens.. what fails first, 2nd, and so on.

maybe one of those guys will figure it out and make an amazing "something" that completely heals 2Gs from it.
