Is it necessary to replace any other hardware in the valvetrain to support continuous 10000+rpm? Such as the lifters, rockers. How do you prevent the lifters from going solid?

On my new setup i have 3g lifters and the beehive springs, and it is just fine. My cams are not that aggressive yet, we will see what happens when i go to a crazy aggressive cam.

Evo 8's use beehive springs and the retainers are super light. Plus they drop right into a dsm.

Can anybody else confirm that the evo 8 has the beehive springs?? The redline is set at 7k
I know that for sure. Mitsu is to cheap to put those springs in....but did they really?

Yes, it is confirmed...

Also does anyone know what Evo retainers are made from??? I've played with titanium retainers (crower, bc and revolver) and these evo ones are much, much lighter... All 16 tip the scales at a whopping 2.2 ounces. Also the springs themselves are each 0.6 ounces lighter than dsm. The sodium filled exhaust valve (also confirmed:thumb: ) is 0.3 ounces lighter than a dsm exhaust valve and the intake is the same between evos and dsms.

The weight pulled from the valvetrain allows it to operate more efficiently and maintain good valve control at higher rpm levels. Remember, the valvespring has to overcome not only the inertia of the moving valve, but also its own weight and inertia.

Any of you guys hear about the new valve springs by Comp Cams? Bee Hive springs. They are suppose be better than dual springs. Check this link out and tell me what you think. You think that we could get some valve springs like that?

Wouldnt we just have to know the dimensions of our valve springs and match em up? Does anyone have those dimensions?

I was under the impression that the Evo 8 valves (both intake and exhaust) were nitrate-filled.

Sodium, sodium nitrate, natrium, I think they're all similar or they achieve the same goal. I don't know anything about chemistry, so I could be wrong.
