420A 420A Valve cover bolts?

I’ve been trying to get my valve cover back on for weeks after restoring it, but the bolts I bought don’t fit. Can anyone help me identify why?

Pretty sure valve cover bolts would be an M6. M8 is a little bigger than a valve cover bolt would be

That takes a special bolt that has a m6 thread with a larger shank up top where it goes into the valve cover.

Yep they are indeed M6.

I believe it was me that originally told you M8, and did so because of a packaging error. The M6x1.0-35mm bolts I purchased were packaged as "M8x1.0-35mm". I measured each to verify no difference. How ridiculous. Thanks Everbilt.
