420A Valve cover gasket

I have changed my valve cover gasket twice and it is still leaking. Has any one else had this problem? Is there a solution for it? The motor is a 420a.

Did you make sure it's secure? Are the spark plug gaskets and the crescent moon secured?

Yea it's leaking out the back side and the front side the bolts a all tight

You are supposed to use rtv on every curved edge

Also make sure your surfaces arent damaged and your bolt holes arent stripped. I only use rtv on my half moon thing on my 4g63 everything else is just oem gasket. Dunno if it's different for 420

Chips and dents can effect this in my experience.

I also used a very small bead of rtv and i am leak free

Definitely use rtv on it and get the gasket from the dealer. Also check the head for scouring

i've tried RTV and still had leaks in the curves at the cam gears. Does black or blue RTV work any better than the other?

I have never tried the blue RTV but I have never had a problem with the black stuff.

They all work if allowed to cure properly. Most people dont let them sit long enough before cranking the motor.

On a 420a it is crucial to follow the bolt tightening sequence, in the proper stages. Do not use a ratchet, only a nut driver

I've replaced gasket and oil cap. But I still find oil on top of the valve cover!

You might need to do some mods mine will never leak from cap again
