hey what's up i was just wondering...i'm planning to turbo my 420A sometime soon and always assumed that i'd need a new exhaust manifold but is that just for the 4G63? i saw a picture of a turbo'd 420A and the turbo was bolted onto the Intake manifold..Can i turbo the 420A and keep my headers on? thanks guys

when you put on a turbo kit for your car, your gonna have to remove your headers in place of turbo exhaust manifold. you should check out hahnracecraft.com it breaks down how a turbo kit works and what its advantages are :thumb:

Whats wrong with STAR?... I just got the STAR kit. Should be here in a week or more. I agree HAHN Stage 2 with FMIC is BAD ASS, but its really expensive. I saw that intercooler for the first time in person at the Chicago HIN. That thing is a work of art! I hope my STAR FMIC isn't a piece....

You can get a tubular manifold(looks like a header) when you get your turbo kit :thumb:

BTW the turbo goes on the exhuast side not the intake side. Turbo is exhaust driven moves the compressor, pipes air to the IC then to the intake.

Have you ever seen a tubular Turbo Manifold for the 420a? I haven't. If you do, let me know. I would love to know where to get one

uhh could that have been a supercharger??? but right your going to have to ditch out your headers for a turbo... heres a neat tid bit of info i got from a shop, although im not sure how true it is, so if someone wants to correct it go ahead, but an exaust manifold is when the runners are all connected by metal in between, so our stock headers is actually an exaust manifold, and headers are when they are seperate... hmmm... but right, and second, you may have wanted to put this thread in the forum which has the same title as it... turbo conversion :thumb:

What is the lowest prices you guys have seen for a 420a turbo kit?? I'm 16 and seriously lacking cash.

that isnt a complete kit. it only comes with a exaust manifold a wastegate and the turbo. theres a bit more to it then that.

if it doesnt come with a wastegate, gotta get one of those, a air filter on the intake side. A intercooler(the guy above said IC pipes, but you gotta have a IC also :D ) Various fittings as also stated above. Someone did a piece by pice kit and said they would of just bought a kit to start, less headache

you also need gauges, o2 housing, down pipe, fuel controllers, fpr, its a lot of work i was incredibly close to doing it

No you don't. Hahn stage one doesn't and Star stage i don't believe does either. Its just better to run it with one. But thanks for the jackass correction.

the hahn or star dont come with IC pipes and no IC. his correction is correct, they arnt going to give you intercooler pipes for a non intercooled system

Listen, they come with pipes, whether you want to call them IC pipes or not whatever, i'll call them IC pipes even if theres no intercooler because basically that is what the compressor housing to IM piping is generally called because of the IC. I was just making a generalized statement but i guess the two of you feel the need to take it upon yourselves to spend you lives going through these non turbo forums stating things like this that don't need to be posted. So my point is i don't care if they aren't exactly IC pipes you still need the pipes, so please take a night off from correcting people and just realize that I'm trying to help this guy out.

...sighs... if you dont know the answer to that question, your not ready to turbo your car for a looonnnggg timme. God knows what you can F*** up, do alot more research on turbo setups, i dont mean to be a dick LOL but its best if you know how a turbo is actually hooked up and works before you go out buy a kit and do it yourself, but turbo kit would help i recommend the hahn its workin amazing for me on my RS420a at 6psi.

go out and buy the book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. its pretty good. it describes all the systems and components needed for a turbo kit. they also describe an install they did, altho its not described very well. but its a good book.

and to the other guy, sorry but it just doesnt make sense to call them intercooler pipes if theres no intercooler. but you dont have to get your panties in a bunch over it ok? :thumb:

i would have to agree with eclipsemblue. I have the non intercooled hahn kit and everything runs good. an intercooler isnt a necesity not unless you run more then 7 lbs of boost and if you go with an intercooler go with a front mount. :talon:
