Good luck finding a transmission to make it happen. IF you want awd buy a gsx, or buy a gst and convert it.

As far as i know there are no 420a awd cars out there because of the lack of a transmission that will work for this application. I suppose that you could adapt the 420a to an evo transmission, but by the time you do that you will have more money in it than a complete awd car would cost.

I've never heard of it before. I've seen a project of someone trying to do a 4g63 swap off an evo 8 or 9, they got pretty far but stopped updating their status, maybe they quit on it:confused:

From my personal experience with talking to a lot of guys in my old car club in florida most of the guys who did custom things like this did it in sleeper cars for cash per win type street racing.

So as you'd imagine most of them aren't willing to help people or aren't going to be posting on here in the first place.

I've HEARD of them but never personally found any evidence other than a few cars that launched really well for being fwd, but that means nothing.

Just like he said, I really want to know what youd do for a transmission.

I heard something about an awd auto tranny from one of the awd mitsubishi vans being used but thats all i heard about it. i think it would be awesome to see someone with enough funds and knowhow do something like this LOL

and how are you going to do that? there is no awd 420a compatible car. it can be done but it isnt worth the cost

If it existed I would have one. Too costly for it to exsist :\ love the idea of it though

It's rather pointless IMO. You might as well 420a swap an Evo. Which would be far less than ideal.

Its along the same line as a 420a RWD mod. It may be cool, but costly and pointless. It probably can be done though. :hmm:

Well supposibly there is people that have done it with the srt-4 but I dont know if thats true but there was members that were trying to do the RWD conversion which is actually better than the awd conversion with a drag build(Slicks, good drivetrain and high hp).

its been discussed alot.. do a search. IF you were to try, the awd minivan would be your best bet.. but like others have said.. its pointless, get a gst/X . no one considers a 2g a sleeper, as it could be a gst or X, therefore being a 2g body automatically gives you some "potential" in the view of a person whos racing for cash.. so i doubt some one made a 420A awd.. the key to a sleeper is something you roll up on and dont expect it to be much. IDK bout you but if theres no badges, i cant tell the diff between a gst and an rs from the rear...

No, but a Body kit decal, spoiler and some fancy window tint makes you a sleeper these days. Not to mention any hardasz with a new muscle car or the v6 muscle car guys will bet away and talk sh1t away, A guy at work wants to race me at the track for checks and all he has is a 30th anniversary edition camaro with barely anything done to it his buddy told me behind his back. Also the mother fer is on street tires. I dont see him getting far without a posi track on an rwd without DRs no way.

I can't understand a thing you wrote, but I do know that a stock '10 v6 camero is faster than any stock dsm....and your turboed n/t is a slug....

SLUG??? Them sound like fightin words!!!:argue: You must mean,Like a slug on crack. There's a guy by me with a 2011 camaro RS(dark sidious) thats ashamed to pull alongside me again!:hellyeah:

The a604/41te transmission has an awd variant the 41AE, whether it can bolt in or not I have no idea but if one butchered a pacifica from a junkyard I'm sure with enough time or money it can be done.

Without an astronomical amount of nitrous, you woudln't make enough power on a 420a to need awd anyway.

Back about 10 years ago when i had my ESI-T this was coming up quite a bit on the forums. Im not sure if one ever got done but there was at least 1 or 2 guys that were actively working on it. I dont remeber all the details now but they were definately using parts from a minivan. The big knock on it was that the only awd trans the would bolt up was an auto, and 10 years ago nobody wanted an auto in a performance car(now theres quite a few 8 & 9 second auto DSM's). Check 2gnt.com to see if you can find any of those old threads about it.
