420a timing belt snapped

I was driving the other day and the timing belt snapped on m 96 talon. I didnt know what was wrong with it and finally after about a week i noticed that the timing belt had broke. I replaced the timing belt and water pump. the timing is dead on and the car starts but it studders and sounds like something is really wrong. The car doesnt idle. please help!

Valves are most likely bent. Need to take the cylinder head off and have it checked.

Those are interference engines.. check compression; you'll probably find that you'll need to remove the head and replace some valves.

or you put it in bad timing....!!...but most likely one or more of your valves are bent.!!!

i researched on how to replace valves and it seems like a lot of work. would it be easier to just get a new head and have it shaved. i found a complete head and all i would need is a head gasket and get it shaved correct???

Have it checked at a shop to make sure its not warped, and valves arent leaking.

A new head would definately be alot cheaper and easier then doing all new valves. Check CL and your local junkyard/pull apart yards and you should be able to find something.

i found one for 125 thats complete. so il just need a new gasket. should i do an oil change after all said and done?
